Show SOCIETY Vera Johnson Recites Vows A lovely midafternoon wedding wed-ding took place in the presence of members of the immediate families Sunday, July 14, when Miss Vera Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ren Johnson of Roosevelt, became the bride of Elbert Curtis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin R. Curtis of Ft. Duchesne. Du-chesne. The marriage rites were read by the Rev. S. J. Talboe at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bel-Ion Bel-Ion before a bower formed of delphinium, pink roses and sweet peas. The bride chose as her wedding wed-ding ensemble a beautifully tailored tail-ored taupe suite with blue accessories, acces-sories, enhanced by a corsage of gardenias and sweet peas. She was attended by Miss Marilyn Whitmore. Dale Drummond acted as best man. After the ceremony a wedding luncheon was served the bridal party before the newlyweds left for Salt Lake City for a short honeymoon. The bride is a graduate of the Roosevelt high school and has served three years as a WAAC. She was stationed overseas at Casa Blanca, with the Army Air Transport Command from September Sep-tember 12, 1944 until November, 1945. Miss Johnson was discharged dis-charged from service and returned re-turned home last November 25. Since that time she has made her home with her parents. The bridegroom graduated from Wasatch Academy at Mt. Pleasant and was attending the U. S. A. C. at Logan at the time he joined Battery C 145th Field Artillery, Utah National Guard. The battery was inducted into the Army on March 3, 1941. He enrolled in Class 25 Officers Candidate School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma Artillery Training School was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1942 and was advanced to the rank of Captain shortly before being sent overseas over-seas April 4, 1944. He was stationed sta-tioned in England until D-Day when he was attached to the 30lh Old Hickory Division and was in continuous contact with the Germans until the battle of the bulge was completed. Capt. Curtis was assigned to occupation occupa-tion duties along the Czechoslovakia Czechoslo-vakia border at Klingenthal until un-til August, 1945. He returned to the States in September, 1945. Mr. Curtis has reinlisted with the Army and is now awaiting orders. I Marriage Announced ! Mrs. Alice Hancock of Roose-vet, Roose-vet, announces the marriage of her daughter, Ruth Virginia, to Mathew Foley of Roosevelt, son j of Mr. and Mrs. John Foley, deceased. de-ceased. The ceremony was performed per-formed in the Logan Temple Thursday, July 18. Neighborhood Sewing Club Wednesday evening Mrs. Dar-rell Dar-rell Walker entertained her sewing sew-ing club at a dessert luncheon at her home. Her guest list included in-cluded Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Harold Gardner, Mrs. Art Allen, Mrs. Neldon Nyberg, Mrs. Clifton Laris, Mrs. Howard Andrews, An-drews, Mrs. J. S. Rawlings, Mrs. Louis Laris, Mrs. Guy Burton, Mrs. Boyne Walker, Mrs. Floyd Labrum. Thought and Thimble Mrs. Robert Johnson was hostess hos-tess to members of Thought and Thimble at her home on Friday. A delicious and unusual southern style luncheon featuring black-, black-, eye peas and okra was served to Mrs. Jack Redmond, Mrs. Cliff Angus, Mrs. Bert Burgess. Mrs. Merel Benson, Mrs. Ted Jenson, Mrs. Harold Dillman, Mrs. Edwin Beeler, Mrs. Jack Glcaton, Mrs. Farrell Wilkins and Mrs. Art Allen. Bridgette Bouquets of Sweet William and early chrysanthemums formed form-ed the decorations when Mrs. Elmer Eldredge entertained her bridge club last Thursday evening. eve-ning. Tempting light refreshments refresh-ments were served at small tables with covers marked for Mrs. Bennie Schmictt, Miss Marilyn Mar-ilyn Whitmore, Mrs. Orson Stevens; Stev-ens; Mrs. Ned Bellon, Mrs. Johnnie Cook, Mrs. Clem Lab-rum Lab-rum and Mrs. Marvel Neilson. Two tables of bridge were at play during the evening with prizes being won by Mrs. Lab-rum, Lab-rum, Mrs. Bellon, Mrs. Neilson and Mrs. Cook. Friday Bridge Club Mrs. Louis Corbridge was hostess host-ess to her bridge club at a delightful de-lightful dessert luncheon at her home on Friday evening. Places were marked for Mrs. Robert Huish, Mrs. C. L. Ashton, Mrs. Ray Jordan, Mrs. Eugene Harm-ston, Harm-ston, Mrs. Howard Harrison. Mrs. Axel Birch, Mrs. Les Mullins, Mrs. Jack McLea, Mrs. Gordon Harmston, Mrs. Sam Weiss, Mrs. Parley Lambert and Mrs. Lynn Orser. |
