Show Friends Honor Mrs. Tuttle On 85th Birthday Mrs. Jennie C. Carr Tuttle was honored Wednesday afternoon, after-noon, July 14th at a lawn party par-ty at the home of Mrs. Fred Todd, when the Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian church entertained enter-tained complimentary to her 85th birthday anniversary. Mrs. Tuttle was born July 14, 1869, at Columbia, Missouri, a daughter of William M. and Polly Martin Carr. She received re-ceived her education -there and on October 9, 1892, she married Isaac R. Tuttle at Millersburg, Missouri, They resided there for several years, later moving to Colorado to make their home. In 1913 the Tuttle family came to My ton to join the early settlers of this district. Both Mrs. Tuttle and her husband taught in the public schools of Myton and surrounding territory. terri-tory. Mrs. Tuttle taught nineteen nine-teen years before retiring, while her husband at the time of his death, Sept. 19, 1934, had been an instructor for 60 years, in classrooms of Missouri, Colorado Col-orado and. Utah. An active member of the Ladies Aid, she has gained a host of friends. About fifty ladies gathered to extend congratulations con-gratulations on her birthday, and present her with many lovely love-ly gifts. A delicious lunch was served by members. A program consisted of vocal solos by Mrs. H. C. Cooper. and musical reading by Fern Clark, with Mrs. O. A. Dart as accompanist. accom-panist. Mrs. Tuttle has one son living liv-ing in California, 2 grandsons; two great-grandsons and a stepson step-son in Missouri. Mrs. W. R. Preece, Mrs. Belle Forsythe and Mrs. Naomi Benson, Ben-son, of Roosevelt; Mrs. Jim Hilkey, of Helper; Mrs. Sally Jenson and Miss Anna Hunt, of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Geo. Philips, of New York City; were among those from out of town who attended the birthday anniversary an-niversary party for Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie Tuttle. , BRIDGE CLUB MEETS Mrs. Homer Robinson was hostess, Friday afternoon, at a dessert bridge party. Her guest list included Miss Anna Hunt and Mrs. Sally Jenson, of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Floyd Lamb, of Roosevelt, Mrs. W. H. Linck, Mrs. Bliss Lott, Miss Alice Todd, Mrs. Rex Lamb, Mrs. James Dalgleish, Mrs. Ted Thomas, Mrs. P. E. Church and Mrs. Wesley Jenson. Following refreshments, re-freshments, bridge was enjoyed with high score prize being awarded to Mrs. Floyd Lamb. Earl Fowler returned Monday from Salt Lake City, where he attended the wedding of his daughter, Arlith Venice Fowler. On his return he was accompanied accom-panied by his daughter, Mrs. Leon Christopherson, and family, fam-ily, of Provo, who will visit here for some time. Visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Murray Mur-ray were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tucker, of Mesa, Ariz., parents of John Tucker, a son-in-law of the Murrays. Dr. and Mrs. Earl Lewis, of Logan, visited Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish, Thursday, en-route en-route to their home after visiting vis-iting in Vernal. W. E. Burton was taken seriously ser-iously ill early Saturday and was rushed to Salt Lake City for hospitalization. His nephew, Garland Reed, took him to Salt Lake and Mrs. Burton accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. W. R. Harris, followed immediately. Mr. Reed reported on his return, that Mr. Burton was resting comfortably but was still quite ill. Miss Anna Hunt and Mrs. Sally Jenson and family, of Salt Lake City, were visitors during the week at the home of their father, Lee Cooper, and also visited their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cooper and family. They returned re-turned home Sunday evening. Miss Alice Todd and Mrh. George Philipps entertained at a dinner Saturday evening. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ferron, of Roosevelt; Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Porter, of Gunnison, Colo.; V. T. Rice, of Bountiful; A. M. Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Todd. Mrs. Lydia Peatross visited Sunday and Monday at the ranch home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Peatross, near Duchesne. |
