Show s i Science Series Set For Holiday Season A special Christmas gift for 400 Utah high school students and science teachers Is being planned Jointly by the University of Utah and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Students and teachers, from schools along the Wasatch Front area, will be Invited to attend a holiday science lecture series at the Universitys Spencer Hall Audltorlm Dec0. ember The lecture series at the University la one of 10 being presented during the holiday season throughout the nation. Among the other cities where lecture series also will be presented aret Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York and Phoenix. The AAAS Holiday Science Lecture program Is entering its fourth year with the 1964-6- 5 series. Supported by grants 28-3- Woodstock PTA Sets Class Tour Woodstock Elementary School PTA 6015 South 13thEast, will host a Back to School night, Tuesday, November 10, at classrooms. Woodstock PTA will hold a teacher appreciation day and open house during National Education Week, November 8 through 14. Open house date will be announced. Modeled after the Christmas lectures of the British Royal Institution, the holiday-scienclectures are aimed at communicating both the ideas of science and the Inspiration of scientific endeavor to young people. Dr. Fowler, who will present the lectures at the University; Is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest honors the nation gives Its scientists. He Joined the staff of CIT as a research fellow in physics and became a full professor In 1946. His major fields of Interest have been the structure, energy levels, and transmutation of light nu- clei; artificial sources of the energy radio-activit- y, of stars; and Instrument development.
