Delaware Lane Physician Yes, there's been an enormous amount of accusations and discussions an independent body should check into them. 1577 Dear Sir; One year ago I attended an organization meeting of the Holladay League of Western I understand Boys Baseball Association that this is one of fifty -- three leagues franchised within Salt Lake County a this During meeting group of community minded men and women convinced me that this Western Boys Baseball Association offered a rare opportunity to the neighborhood and our local community to build a sound native American program fhat is beneficial to the boys and their families Being a mother of a boy eleven years of age and realizing how beneficial baseball could be to him by providing healthful recreation during his summer vacation months, it likewise offers a way for myself, a parent, to become interested in a program that will help to mature mv boy with something else in addition to school and his scoutwork This program ts adapted to the mental and physical capacities of boys nine through t elite years of age Six months ago this group of comm inity nunded men and women approached the Metropolitan Water District to use a parcel of ground in the area of 40th South and 3300 East for a new ball They felt the Holladay area lacked park sufficient recreational sites to take the numerous boys of this age off the street Thru this effort they were able to build a ball park, completely plant it with grass, sprinkling system and other facilities to make it possible for these boys to play safely with adult supervision After this ball park was 50 per cent completed and so constructed that it would in no way damage or interfere with any of the abutting properties, a group of nonunderstanding people petitioned not to allow these boys (approximatly 150) to play on I myself live in the general area of the ball park and feel very bad that this has taken place The formation of these baseball teams helps to elim'nate boys gangs such as we read in the daily newspapers The players being in the formative years of their lives are particularly susceptible to being mschievous with their free time and any help that we adults can give them I am sure will help I am very much disappointed that some of these thoughts have not entered the minds of the people who are against allowing the boys to play on this ball diamond This program requires the support of the entire Holladay community and there are no financial rewards for those who have contributed time and money to this movement I would appreciate your publishing this letter in order to give a better understanding as to the value of this program opposing it MRS Holladay, I o the citizens JUNE GRAHAM Utah i Klerkr Extern) Confidence Dear Sir.
