June 3, 1965 Bell Ring ers Date Concert Christ When Methodist Church brings David A Wehr and the Cathedral Bell Choir of the Methodist Cathedral of the Rockies, Boise, Idaho and the program Let Inspiration Ring to the Church Monday, June 7, at 8 P.M., local concert goers and bell ringing enthusiasts will see and hear a production that will lift mind and spirit. The handbell concert will offer unique arrangements of hymns, patriotic songs, folk tunes, and melodies from the semi-- c lassies. The 20 bell ringers swing 61 English handbells cast in Holland, California, and Pennsylvania. A feature of the program is an explanation by Wehr on some of the techniques used in handbell ringing, and the type af known as Bellstra-tion- s" which is used by the group. The Methodist Cathedral Bell Choir system initiated in 1959, was the inspiration of Doctor Herbert E. Richards, Methodist Cathedral Minister in Boise, Idaho. The choir travels under the auspices at Inspiration, Incorporated, a foundation for the advancement of Educational and Religious Television one-ho- ur well-kno- no-tati- on non-pro- fit The ringers have been featured often in national publications and their equipment has been of special Interest to handbell ringing groups throughout the world. The choir has been seen frequently on both CBS and NBC television, has done much radio recording, and is also featured oo the forthcoming 12 inch LP entitled Let Inspir- ation Ring. The group, under the direction of its founder, David A. Wehr, has appeared in concerts at both the Seattle and the New York World's Fairs, The choir has also completed successful tours through the Midwest, through New England and most recently through our Southwestern states. A few of the many highlights of previous tours within the United States include a chat the with of Windsor, Duke playing for Marian Anderson, and giving a command performance for United States Senators and Representatives in the Senate Rotunda in Washington, D. C. The Cathedral Bell Choir is a member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, and the National Federation of Music Clubs. The Cathedral Bell Choir not only has a dynamic, fascinating program, but the humor ana .i.structional interludes add to the interest and enthusiasm of appreciative audiences."
