The Enterprise quoted James as saying the Golden Amethyst ore contains silver and native quicksilver in addition to gold. The Golden Amethyst is located in an area noted for its mercury production in addition to gold. The Golden Amethyst was discovered several years ago by Marion Gordon and was first explored by him, his father, Elmer Gordon, and Carl E. Thomsen, all of Winnemucca. It is located in an area where the West Coast Gold Mine was a successful producer until World War II brought a cessation to underground. Next door to the Golden Amethyst is the Ten Mile Mine which lias been leased to a Colorado mining firm and is presently in production.
