forenoon and afternoon and the seminary fradua graduation tion exercises sunday evening elder richard R lyman of the council of the twelve represented the general church authorities presidents fred webster and geo took charge of the various sessions A record breaking crowd was in attendance at the various se sessions the ideal weather conditions undoubtedly contributing to the attendance the program for the seminary graduation conducted by the seminary instructor james de bray included musical numbers by class members selections by the high school chorus under direction of mrs airs irene hess the vali valedictory dictor y address by hans jackson a readi reading n by elva noyes and a talk by I 1 ida dg a cooper elder richard R lyman delivered the address to the graduates president wm will F webster presented the diplomas prayers were offered b by y torval albrecht and lucile aldroy OI droyd the graduates are ida cooper ni nila a behunin josephine newberry ne nelda ida cook elva noyes all of the torrey ward hans and fern jackson of teasdale lucile OI droyd lyman ward and torval albrecht of loa elder lyman and president webster were late in arriving due to the fact that they were held up op account of muddy roads in in crossing the mountain fire destroys home fir fire broke out in the home of robert taylor of fremont monday night light completely destroying the upper floors and roof of the two story building most of the furniture from the lower floors was saved but only one ne trunk from the bedrooms was recovered from the flames the origin if the fire is not known own but it is thought that sparks from the chimney kindled in the dry shingles dutch wedding two marila marriages es of interest locally took place lay last t week in salt lale lake city the couples were riley stevenson of salt lake city and miss byrle potter daughter of mr air and mrs irs wm win potter sr of loa von taylor taylor son of mr and mrs airs harvey taylor and miss bliss lila oyler daughter of mr air and mrs airs ammon oyler both of loa mr air and sirs airs stevenson will entertain at a dance monday evening before going to salt lake city to make their home mr air and mrs taylor have not yet returned from the city they will make their home in loa grade schools close the grade schools of wayne district closed for the school Y year ear friday night the lower grades of the bicknell school presented in costume an entertaining program before a pleased group of parents A childrens dance followed the program mrs neta ellett and miss dorella jackson teachers were in charge miss dorella jackson awarded prizes to the boy and girl in the third and in the fourth grade holding the best record the awards were given to reuben morrell and lucile frank brinkerhoff and ineda hickman gladys brinkerhoff was given a prize as the best speller eighth grade exercises the wayne district eighth grade graduation exercises were held in the amusement hall at bicknell friday the high school orchestra furnished music for the occasion and each of the seven schools represented contributed to the program mr air hansen principal of the loa school addressed the graduates certificates of graduation were awarded by superintendent anne snow to forty two students two qualified graduates from hanksville Hanks ville were not present A list of graduates from the vario daughter mrs roy larsen 1 mrs royal brinkerhoff and little daughter afton came here with mr and mrs airs reuben meeks upon their return home from the lower country they will leave soon for their ranch near sandy misses vonda albrecht and thelma taylor of fremont visited mrs airs hulda duncan last weel week mr and mrs airs worth sorensen are the proud parents of a baby girl mrs airs is staying in fremont at the home of her parents mr air and mrs airs charles anderson she was formerly miss bliss thora anderson saturday was proclaimed field day for the wayne high school and teachers and students made an excursion to the cove on fish creek to indulge in field activities and a lunch geoage C brinkerhoff was in salt lake ciby on business last week returning with a new international truck |
