Show RICHFIELD WOMAN KILLED IN auto A U T 0 occident SUNDAY funeral seal services vices held wednesday for mrs martines Mar lines christensen Christens cn the death of mrs anna jensen gramse christensen 58 wife of martines Martin cs christensen in an automobile accident near hoxie kansas sunday brought to a tragic end what had been a delightful trip for mr and mrs christensen they were returning from a trip to the worlds fair in chicago an and d ontario canada when the a accident cc I 1 occurred although they were driving at a moderate rate 0 of f speed their car was completely overturned over turned landing upright in the borrow pit when a tire blew out while they were traveling on a stretch of loose gravel mr christensen who suffered only minor injuries was still at the wheel when the car righted itself but his wife bad been thrown from the car to an embankment above the borrow pit and killed instantly the body was brought to richfield tuesday morning and funeral services were held wednesday afternoon in the first ward chapel bishop enoch IL larson presided at the services speakers were D P jensen who recalled incidents from the early settlement of richfield in which the families of both mr and mrs christensen took active part A J ashman who spoke with sincere respect of the family and offered consolation and bishop larson who made a few closing remarks mrs laura smith read resolutions of respect and con dolance from crystal rebekah lodge of which mrs christensen was a charter member and in which she served twice as noble grand the highest office in the lodge the relief society choir directed by mrs harvey jensen with mrs lizzie hansen at the organ sang the opening number sister thou wast mild and lovely other musical numbers were a vocal solo the perfect day by mrs L A poulson a cello solo by M T L done accompanied by mrs hansen and a vocal trio going home by mrs L A poulson mrs D N and mrs vcra blomquist accompanied by carvel mattsson the invocation was by P C B peterson the benediction by G W blomquist interment was in the city cemetery G W coons dedicated the grave the many beautiful flowers were carried by members of crystal ji rebekah lodge and the first ward relief society pallbearers Pall bearers were wm win johnston J A jessen adolph nielson guy lewis W B pace and M C nelson of richfield lodge no 19 1 I 0 0 F practically every seat in the P chapel was as taken for the services many friends and relatives coming from nearby towns from marys vale and from the northern part of the state mrs christensen was born september 5 1876 in denmark a daughter of P C and anna christiana nielson jensen the family came to utah in 1877 settling in utah county for two years to county where sirs mrs christensen Chrls has since resided at richfield mrs christensen was active as a charter member of crystal rebekah lodge as a member of the relief society and at the time of her death was vice president of the home and community section of the sevier county farm bureau in which capacity she had served two or three years her marriage to rudolph gramse took place in march 1898 mr gramse died january 21 1923 in november 1925 she married mr christensen she was the mother of five children two of whom preceded her in death surviving are her husband two daughters mrs veneta lewis of richfield and miss shirley gramse a student of hen egers business college in salt lake one son fred gramse f dve grandchildren and five brothers and sisters james 13 jensen roberts idaho mrs J J jensen and T B jensen of richfield mrs lena williams and mrs rose lowe of monroe |
