Show Obit obituaries es ai ELISSA ISSA STRATTON JOHNSON mrs melissa stratton johnson 91 a utah pioneer died monday at 2 a m at the home of her daughter mrs J W peterson after having been confined to her bed since february mrs johnson was born bom december 3 1845 in hancock county missouri a daughter of oliver and harriet stratton when three years of age she came with her parents to utah in company with other L D S church converts shortly after arriving in salt lake they left for draper to make their home here they lived until called by the church presidency to go with others to settle dixie when 17 years of age mrs johnson returned to draper where she became acquainted with powell johnson to whom she was married mar ried on october 8 1863 to this union were born six children mrs johnson also cared for the children of mr jo johnsons ansons second wife who passed away when her children were small mr johnson died eight years ago and since that time mrs johnson has lived with her daughter mrs johnson had bad been active in church organizations in her earlier life she was for many years a teacher in the relief society and cared for the sick and helped in cases of death she is survived by the following sons and daughters mrs arthur ence richfield mrs J W peterson and james johnson glenwood mrs minnie killian long beach california mrs elisa ellis los angeles and william johnson annabella three sisters mrs clara griffin mesa arizona mrs anna ann a may smith los angeles and mrs hattle hattie duffin duff in glenwood 50 grandchildren 85 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren survive funeral services were held wednesday afternoon in the glenwood ward chapel CLARA clara 29 died at 10 a in sunday at the sevier valley hospital death resulting from diabetes and blood poisoning she was taken to the hospital for I 1 treatment thursday clara was born at monroe march 23 a daughter of P C I 1 and mary al she was graduated from the south sevier high school and from the brigham young university after graduating she taught school in the elsinore school she worked for two years as a case worker for the and andrup up to the time of her illness two weeks ago had been employed as deputy county recorder she had been very active in church and civic affairs she served as vice president and as secretary of the american legion auxiliary she served for two years as president of the daughters of utah pioneers monroe mountain camp she had been an officer in the M 1 I A and the primary at monroe and a member of the monroe south ward chair at the time ime of her death she was a mem tier ber of the south sevier stake sunday school board in the year 1929 she married edwin erickson of richfield thel the ceremony being performed in the manti temple but they had separated surviving are her mother one son don 6 four brothers berdj bert taylor and owen Christian aen of monroe and bishop heber I 1 of central two half brothers peter and godfrey of monroe and five half sisters mrs caroline washburn of monroe mrs marie collings ceilings mrs 1 rose johnson mrs josephine kellar and mrs mary johnson all of idaho funeral services will be held today thursday at 2 p m in the monroe south ward chapel 0 0 VERL L LUNDGREEN verl L lundgreen age 13 months son of bishop and mrs mra arthur C lundgreen of monroe died of pneumonia sunday at the lundgreen home he was born bom april 26 1936 at monroe surviving are his parents three brothers lynn merrill and reed and three sisters jewel carol and ruth lundgreen all of monroe and his bia grandparents mr and mrs joseph H jensen of monroe funeral services were held tuesday afternoon in the monroe north ward chapel with hans of the ward bishopric in charge speakers were H roland and charles A white the me ward choir directed by mrs lyle asay sang though deepening trials other musical numbers were a vocal solo your sweet little rosebud has left you by mrs wesley pearce a violin solo the lord is my shepherd by miss barbara Ti etien accompanied by miss leslie and a duet duct shine on by mona lundgreen and winifred dyches th the invocation was by rulon tl the e benediction by lyle asay interment was in the monroe cemetery |
