Show PT L r go bill n TO P SN u pioneer resident of sevier county paid final tribute impressive funeral services were held in the glenwood ward chapel sunday afternoon for hyrum thorsen who died thursday after a lingering illness bishop elmer J sorensen conducted the services As the opening song the choir sang one of mr Thor sens favorite hymns come let Us anew the choir sang consolation and farewell all earthly hours A mixed quartet from annabella sang two numbers jesus lover of my soul and sweet hour of prayer and harvey G sorensen rendered a solo A poor wayfaring man alan of grief the speakers were H H bell and J H payne of glenwood albert hooper of annabella and L P hansen of richfield who spoke words of comfort to the family and told of the services of mr thorsen of his fellowmen fel and also to the church the opening prayer was by rudolph rickenbach sr and the benediction by andrew old royd A large cortege of cars followed the remains to the cemetery where the grave was dedicated by henry peterson members of the high priests quorum of which mr air thorsen was a member acted as pall bearers hyrum thorsen was born in randers county denmark julyia july 18 1866 a son of soren A thorsen and christene Christ cne christensen thorsen when seven years of age he with his father and aunt left for america his mother having died a few days before they carrie came to utah spending a few years in san pete county As a young man mr thorsen came to sevier county and settled at Koo koosharem sharem later going to annabella and then to glenwood where the family spent the past fourteen years at the time of the erection of the manti temple in which work mr thorsen was employed he met and married matilda D peterson who was also born in denmark to this union were born 12 children 6 of whom proceeded mr thorsen in death surviving mr thorsen are his widow four daughters and two sons mrs ester johnson and miss ina thorsen of salt lake city mrs airs afable wilson and mrs airs elda salisbury of nepal cloyd and arlo thorsen of glenwood twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild |
