Show funeral services held here tuesday for leroy utley funeral services were held here tuesday afternoon in the warner warna r mortuary for leroy utley 47 whose body was brought here tuesday from rupert idaho for burial bishop enoch R larsen presided at the services i musical numbers were three selections by a double mixed quartet composed of mrs jas M peterson mrs J lerue ogden mrs H W keate miss mildred hansen charles jackman clarence littlewood henry ward and J W ward a vocal solo by mrs effle effie erickson hulbert and an instrumental duet by martin peterson and earl madsen speakers were arthur poulson and bishop larsen the invocation was by owen M ogden the benediction by charles jackman interment was in the city cemetery bishop W L warner warmer dedicated the mr utley took his own life by using a piece of canvass from a mattress to hang himself in the wellhouse cell bouse house in the power county idaho jail where he had been taken after having baying confessed to officers that he shot and killed robert S walton minidoka Mini doka county sheriff when lie he appeared at cabin and a few minutes later shot and killed his brother inlaw in law wm P gardner and seriously wounded his bis mother in law mrs elva gardner at their home in rupert according to state papers he confessed the shootings to officers stating that the tragedy occurred after a quarrel with his wife and mother in law friday after afternoon moon and after the mother in law had sent the sheriff to his cabin utley said his family trouble started when he deeded to his wife the residence in rupert he bought with war risk insurance during the world war mr utley enlisted at richfield in the infantry april 25 1918 was sent to camp lewis and was discharged for disability he was a son of samuel and clara utley born bom february 11 1887 he is survived by his widow mrs maybelle gardner utley whom he married in salt lake a three year old son leroy keith a stepdaughter step daughter nornia norma mae gable 10 three brothers frank utley of blackfoot idaho george I 1 utley of salt lake and victor utley of richfield two sisters mrs millie jorgensen of richfield Rich neld and mrs belle kelly of stockton |
