Show YOUNG OF HIG RAY don hansen funeral held tuesday afternoon there is no sting in death said judge N J bates one of the speakers at the funeral services held over the remains of don hansen tuesday afternoon when the one called away passed out in the full possession of his mental and physical abilities and the fact of the highest esteem is being testified to by such a large and select audience as assembled to pay respects to the deceased and indeed tile the audience was enoi enormous about twice the size the third ward chapel can normally hold flowers were e banked high around the bier and on tile the dais r twit bonz anc and spoken word tribute was paid to trie tie young man who so suddenly was T taken from his family and friends the junior class of the richfield high school of which don had been a member attended the services in a body and the high school orchestra lead by director J L terry played soft tunes when the casket was vas brought in and was taken out to be carried to the last resting place counselor A J fillmore directed the services and his voice trembled with emotion when he announced the numbers of the program and especially when he delivered the final remarks joining those who had talked before him in expressions of admiration for the young man and consolation to the survivors sun ivors the choir under direction of miss lanna robinson opened the services a and nd L P hansen offered tb the e invocation on after another rendition by the choir mrs reginald peterson and mrs I 1 roy christensen taking the solo parts principal A M maughan was introduced as the first speaker in behalf of the school and the students lie he expressed sorrowful sympathy and elaborated on the excellent qualities 0 of f don hansen as a student emphasizing his points by referring to dons achievements in curricular and extra curricular activities mentioning his fine scholarship his loyal spirit his activities as of the junior class in debating public speaking in the glee club in the semi seminary classes and as worker in his ward mrs ross heppler then read some original verses dedicated by miss aliss lanna robinson to the parents and family of the deceased after the address addre ss by judge bates referred to above th the e choir with A W rowley as soloist sang another number following which president R D young spoke touchingly on the leadership qualifications of don hansen mrs florence anderson sang a solo after the concluding musical number by the choir charles wilson offered the benediction and the remains were taken to the city cerne cemetery for interment fellow workers of don in school and in ward classes acted as pall bearers and so deeply impressed by the occasion were the they y that one of them weldon peterson had a fainting spell which for a few minutes interrupted the services taken out in the fresh air weldon fully recovered ina veil very short time A J fillmore dedicated the grave don died suddenly thursday evening of last week at the home of lorenzo J durrant in provo where he was staying while representing the journalism class of our high school aclid ol 01 as business nia manager nager of the continued on page eight young student of richfield high passes away continued from page one Sevi erian and the year book during the brigham young university leadership week his body was discovered by dean durrant following his return from a dance early friday morning according to the story told officers by durrant he looked into the room occupied by don at about in the ev evening ening and thought the boy was asleep on the bed when he returned from the dance he be noticed a light in the room from a gas heater which was used to heat the room upon further examination he discovered that don was lead dead durrant immediately notified dons brother ted hansen who with his sister mildred is a student at the B Y U ted called dr R garn gam dark clark who after an examination declared that death vms v as probably due to a heart spasm although he could make no definite statement until a postmortem post mortem examination had bad been made later examination proved that death was caused by gas escaping escalin g from the heater be besides ides his parents bishop and mrs H J hansen don L is survived by the following brothers and sisters orvil ted mildred elbert and lavonda hansen all of richfield and mrs airs ireta M westcott of los angeles |
