It seemthat the frothing breakers would at any moment crunch their fitful jaws and gulp down the helpless For three days the storm beat mecilessly while Nephi, bruised and Bore from the sawing of the cords with which he was bound, lay defenseless where his brothers had imprisoned him. The girl, who had so valiently plead for his release when he had been likewise bound before they em barked, exhausted her energies in his boliall but her pleadings were of no avail. Even Lohi and Liriah, the aged parents were disregarded by their wilful sons. The cruelity of Laman and Lemuel together with the violence of the sea caused them serious illness. The fourth day of the storm was so disturbing that tne .cruel brothers were made to realize the need for protection and guidence. They needed Nephi at the helm; they needed calm, waters ami a wTnd. They needed the directing needle of the compass; they needed the assuring feeling that comes after humble and sincere repentance. Therefore, Nephi was at last, made free.' At his touch the compass was made active. He offered his praise and gratitude to his God, praying that the tempests be quieted. He took his pljce at the helm and the ship was righted to its course. Alter many days at sea the little colony set foot upon a promised land. They anchored on the west coast of what we call South America, somewhere on the border of Chile. Of course there vveie many things to busy this little group of pilgrims. There was seed to plant and ground to make ready for homes. There were little children to cloLe and to te,idi There was much to inspire industry Yet Laman and Lemuel and their fam dies preferred to tie indolent and sloth ful. They would rather dwell in tents s than to busy them-- , and selves in making attractive and com fortalble homes j They' had rather hunt, the animals of the forests than ed II CONTINUED Whence came the bearers of this art? When Columbus first discerned the flickering torch piomising sight of land on the morrow, who controlled that beacon light? What strange race? Who ted the flame of civilization here before this land was known to Its Eastern neighbors? All this and more is answered within the pages of the Book of Moritself a history of America s mon, ancient voionists. Whence came these colonists. A little band of pioneers under the prophetic guidance that the Lord had provided left Jerusalem six hundred years before Christ, to be led to a land choice above all other lands, where sacred rites could be observed without pagan interference. Soon should the Eastern invaders destroy the beautiful Jerusalem ; and it seems that wisdom from heaven preserved this little group. Lelii, the advisor ot the party had four outstanding Rons. The two older ones, Laman and Lemuel, werg more wayward than were tlieir younger brothers, Sum and Nephi, and were somewhat abusive to them. Nephi succeeded in Jiuilding a sh p, and with itlie aid of a compass-lik- e fiixture to direct their course, they get sail upon imposing waters of the Pacific. NARRATOR : Have you ever en joyed an ocean cruise? Or loomed Lazily along the Delaware with a few friends? Have you felt the pelting of arlveitjrous waves licking high?
