The General Music Committee of the L. D. S. Church will hold an institute for the training of Choristers and Organists, on Saturday and Sunday, August 28th and 20th, 1937, at the Evanston Ward L. D. S. Chapel. An Instructor will be sent from the McOuno School of Music, Salt Lake City, to present this course of training. According to the plan choristers and organists will meet alternately as follows : 9 to 10 :30 a. m. for choristers ; 10:30 to 12 oclock noon for organists. Similar periods in the afternoon and evening for study. The same periods will obtain for Sunday except the evening classes which will not be held. For the Choristers The technique of the baton, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, the methods of song presentation, the conducting of rehear sals, lists of new and appropriate materials. etc. Organists Will study organ touch and technique, rhythm, registration, hymn playaccompanying solo ing, interludes, playing, interpretation, how to select new music and lists of playing material. The cost of tuition will be borne by the wards of the Woodruff Stake. The texts and music used by the students would cost each student about one dollar. The course is open to all music lovers who wish to participate, pacing the one dollar fee, the music, etc., they receive, will of course, become the prop erty of the pupil. We expect a class of choristers and organists from Randolph, Woodruff. Kemmerer, Diamondville, Almy, Hilliard and Evanston to number about sixty members. This is an opportunity for lovers of misie who wih to learn something of above courses to enroll and participate in the class work.
