And that the official paper of this county was The Rich County News, because it was published for this county. I guess I was lead astray. It is a lot of business-- a lot of business that I dont have. It takes money to run a newspaper. For example, to publish the Rich County News each week costs around $800. Advertising and subscription revenue is under $300. That is a loss I absorb each week of roughly $500. Now a week or two of that, I can stand-bu- t e when planning(the county contracts.) goes in another direction-shor- t term remedies must be made. Local folks write the stories and take pictures. The Rich County News contains nothing but stories of interest to Rich County. ; If that isnt publishing a paper in a county as well as for a county regardless of the fact that my main office is in Evanston-- I dont know what you would call it. We might as well say that - its going to be here anyway, whether were happy about it or not 1 am, by the way happy about it that is. When something is new, it means you have a whole lot of choices as to how youll use it. You can use it gently, roughly, sparingly, lavishly, occasionally, often, never, or use it all up, -- among other things. In the case of a new year, lots of people try to use it wisely and to get the very most out of it. Thats where New Years Resolutions come in. Every year I do the resolution thing. My resolves almost always have to do with mundane things that must be done to maintain my life. You see, Ive shined and oiled and washed and waxed and decorated and cooked (yes, cooked!) and in general - just spiffed everything up for Christmas, and well. Ive got all of this stern, starchy decision about me that things are going to stay this way, so I make New Years Resolutions to this effect. , Ha-h- o! Who am I trying to kid? There is always some new project or some old new project, (i. e. Something breaks and I have to fix it.) that comes along to try my skill and ingenuity on. There is only so much time that were given and Id rather use it to do new things, different things, things to challenge me and make me - i to vn Now Open Vl think. MOUNTAIN Creek TRAVEL In Shopping Center So my resolutions must fit into that framework. I want to do new things, but I also must do my job well and maintain my home. Last January I did one thing that seemed to work fairly well for me. First I got a calendar, the big pretty kind, with the large glossy photos and the roomy squares to write things in. This was what I was going to fill in to remind myself of things to do and special dates and places to go so that Id be prepared for them. Well that one was much too pretty to actually use, so I got a desk calendar, the weekly reminder type and wrote down car maintenance, taxes, insurance due dates, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. in it and hung the other one on the wall to admire. There were weeks when I wasnt awfully thrilled to turn the page and find Id decided I needed to wash walls, but it was fun to be reminded of birthdays and anniversaries. This year I think Id add really big reminders to send a card just to tell people that' I like them that would be fun. And maybe Ill write the stuff about washing the walls redly little that would be fun, too! a had Hope you really nice Christmas, and to resolve have a lets really Happy New Year! .
