Dean Stuart again had an outstanding game from his forward position. The final minutes saw all of the young players get into the game with Rhett Groll scoring 5 points and the Trojans moving to their winning margin of 54 - 33. The South Rich JV was 18 for 25 from the line. Leading them in scoring was Troy Parker with 14; Dean Stuart and Wayne Winder with 10 each; and Steve Stacey with 7. For the Jays who were 7 for 15 from the line and were lead in scoring by N. DeCoch with 9 and J. Schoenen-berge- r South Rich Junior Varsity, with a strong eight point performance from Wayne Winder, exploded for a 16 to 2 first quarter lead against the St. Joseph Jays; and with this great start, the young Trojans never looked back as they defeated the visitors from St. Joseph 54 - 33 to move their season record to 4 - 0. Steve Stacey came off the bench in the second quarter and sparked the Trojans with two field goals and three for three from the foul line. The third period brought the Trojan fans to their feet as the south Rich fast break got into high gear and the third quarter ended with the Trojans holding a twelve point lead 35-2Center Chad Peart lead the with four baskets along with charge Gordon Tate and Shawn Buckley getting two baskets each. The fourth quarter found both teams playing fairly even and saw the Trojans struggle some more from the foul line, but they were able to maintain their margin and move to a man-to-ma- 17-1- 3. 50-3- 6 victory. Three of the wrestlers came home with awards for placing at the Grace Invitational . Flint Telford took first place in 155 the weight division by winning three matches. Second Place was won by Lee Jones in the 167 weight division by winning two matches and losing only one. Shane Eastman captured fourth place in the 98 pound weight division. He won two matches and lost two. David Hoffman converted one match into a win, but was unable to take wins in the other two matches. |
