The Rich County News, December 29, 1983, Page 10 BY Larry Johnson Trojan Grapplers Overpowered By Devils The South Rich Trojans were blanked by the Evanston Red Devil wrestlers in a Wednesday night Randolph match that saw the Devils take the meet 35 - 0. Four weight categories were left open by the South Rich team and they were unable to win any of the remaining weights over the powerful Red Devils. In regulation matches 105 pound Kevin Williams pinned Trojan Del- bert Marshall in the first period. Keith ONiell won the 119 pound division with a pin in the second Mike period over Mike Hopkin. Reeves won the 126 pound division as he collected a pin over David Hoffmann in them mid-wa- y point of the second period. 132 pound Matt McCombie wrestled Mike Jackson to a decision, nine to three to win the mid-weig- division. ht David Hopkin in the 138 pound weight class took A Trojan matman puts up a fight. Part of the reason for the Trojan downfall was the losing of three key players via the five foul route. Theyv were Dean Stuart, Wayne Weston, and Wayne Winder. The Braves gained their first lead of the game inside of the final minute and led by two points with eight seconds remaining when Troy Parker was fouled while going to the basket. His first foul shot was good, cutting the Brave lead to one point. Troys second foul shot came up short and with that wept the Trojan hopes of victory. The final score was North Summit 50 - South Rich 49. South Rich was seven for nineteen from the line and were led in scoring by Dean Stuart with 14, Troy Parker with ten, Brian Tingey with nine, and Wayne Winder eight. The Braves were 14 for 21 from the line, and led in scoring by R. The South Rich Trojan Junior Varsity Friday evening met their toughest challenge of the year, when they played host to the Braves of North Summit. Leading the charge for the young Trojans with eight points in the first quarter was their six foot five inch center, Wayne Winder (Buzz), as they grabbed a 12 11 first quarter lead. The second saw the fast break get Trojan period into high gear as Dean Stuart scored six points, Troy Parker with five, and -- 21 half time lead. Following the intermission South Rich took up where they left off moving the ball quickly down the court for more easy baskets, and extended their lead on the strength of seven points from Brian Tingey and six more for Dean Stuart. It looked like the young Trojans were in complete control of the game as they moved to an eleven point third quarter lead 42 - 31.
