L. Butler to Harold Johnson, son of Spanish Fork, is announced "Sadie Hawkins Events at ''Y" "The B. Y. high school staged a successful -"Sadie; Hawkins" day Friday with Deanne Merrill and Dorothy Rawson in charge. The event of the morning was the "Sadie Hawkins" assembly, directed by Maria Hayes. The program pro-gram took place in the following manner: Presiding, Don Hansen; flute solo. Juna Christensen; prayer, Marie Phillips; song, Norma Boyle: announcements. Deanne Merrill; reading, Jeannei Taylor; piano, medley, Miriam Christensen; trio, Shirley and Norma Hill and Helen Elliotts skit, ; Sammie Speakman, Mauree Payne, Guy Ivins and Paul Johnson; John-son; -and a one-act play read by Beth; Clayson. ' A gala "Sadie Hawkins" dance was held in the evening and students stu-dents sported plaid shirts, denim skirts and levis. The music was furnished by Curt Curtis and his orchestra. Larson - Navy Mothers Report on Boys The Navy Mothers' club met Friday afternoon at the Women's clubhouse, with the commander, Mrs. Elizabeth Miner, in charge. Mrs. Josie JOhnson, vice commander, com-mander, assisted. "America," was sung, the group being led by Mrs. Ada Wiseman, with Mrs. Claire Roberts accompanying. Mrs. Wiseman Wise-man . sang two numbers, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs, Mildred Liljen quist, and Mrs. Julia Wright gave a reading. ' Each member told where ; her son is now located and on which ship he is assigned. Refreshments were served to 20 members and live gu!ests, by Mrs. Edna Miner and Mrs. Claire Roberts. Cluff, who were united in marriage Thursday evening in the Salt Lake temple. " The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney H. Cluff of Pleasant View. David A. Broadbent performed the ceremony in the presence of the parents,, also Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hanks and Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Cluff of Provo, and President William Seeermiller of Salt Lake City.' j r For her 1 wedding the bride chose a handsdme model of white embossed taffeta, with long sleeves and full skirt, en-lrain. A crown of orange blossoms held in place her flowing veil of lace-edged lace-edged net, and she carried a bouquet bou-quet of Easter lilies and pink rosebuds., Mrs. Stanley Stubbs, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and she wore turquoise blue taf feta. The . bridesmaids, the Misses Miss-es ' Nyla Nesbit of Provo, Bee Walker of Pleasant ' Grove, t and Oenone Slack of Salt Lake City, were in orchid net and lace,-yellow net,, and pale green net, respectively. re-spectively. They held bouquets of white chrysanthemums. Ann Slack and Mark Cluff, youngsters, held up the bride'a' train.- Ann was f rocked in dainty pink -net, and Master Mark wore a white suit. T. Earl Tuckett of Lake Shore was. the best man. . - Two . hundred and fifty guest! attended and were received by Mrs. McEwan, the bride's mother; William McEwan, brother of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Cluff, parents of the groom. The bride's mother was gowned in blue crepe, and Mrs. Cluff was in blue velvet. Their corsages were of rosebuds and gardenias. Pink and white crepe paper trimmings were in the windows and around the chandeliers and huge vases and baskets of : chrysanthemums chry-santhemums were featured In the, floral arrangements. The serving tables were also in pink and white. Dancing was enjoyed by the many guests, and, with Sterling Cluff as master of ceremonies, the following program was furnished: fur-nished: Vocal solos, Scott Peterson, Peter-son, T. Earl Tuckett and Mrs. Ethel Slack; violin solos, Jean Slack; toast to the bride and groom, Ray Hanks; piano solo, Mrs. Ruth Colvin. Miss Ada May Rogers, Miss Margaret Bussio, Miss Evelyn Pen rod and Miss Lucile Nesbit served, and the gifts were in charge of Mrs. Sterling Cluff, Mrs. Harold Cowley and Mrs. Wesley Wes-ley Taylor, assisted by Rulon Cluff, Lloyd Cluff, Helen Slack and Lelelth Hanks. Both are graduates of the Lincoln Lin-coln . high school. Mr. Cluff recently re-cently returned from a mission in the western states. The young couple will make their home in Provo. Utah "Sharp" New Shoe To Be Wed In Hollywood Mr. and Mrs. L. I. Wardle of Provo, announce the engagement of their daughter, Beatrice, to G. Lamar Friel, of Hollywood, Calif., son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Friel of Springville. The bride-elect is leaving November No-vember 19 for Hollywood, where the wedding is to be held November Novem-ber 21. The young couple will make their home in that city, where Mr. Friel is employed. Miss Wardle attended the B. Y. U. for two years, also, Hena-gers Hena-gers Business college. Mr. Friet was graduated from the B.Y.U. last year and was affiliated with the Tausigs.
