Earlier radioed messages said fire aboard the ship was under control and that the crew, after once abandoning it, had returned to the vessel. Today the marine bureau said it learned the crew finally was forced to abandon the ship and was recsued by the Nyk liner Shinko Maru. X It was reported an explosion in the number four hold caused the fire which eventually spread over the entire ship. The Fijian sailed from San Francisco March 2 for the South Seas and Melbourne, Australia. Forty crew membefs "were aboard. There were no passen-' gers. The members of the Book of Mormon class of the Manila Sunday Sun-day school were entertained by their teacher, Mrs. Jesse Wadley at her home Saturday evening. Present were Leah Wadley, Beverly Bever-ly West, Delores Smith, Merle Christensen, Melba Grange, Paul Roundy, Phyllis Roundy and Boyd Swenson. In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Warnick, who are leaving for Montana Mon-tana to make their home, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill N. Warnick entertained enter-tained Saturday evening. M., March 27 (L'.Pi The engineer of a north bound Colorado and Southern pas senger train was fatally injured and 8 others were injured in a head-on collision with a south bound C. & G. freight at 10:52 last night. Dan Horan, engineer of the passenger train, was trapped in the wrecked cab of his engine and was not freed until 2 a. m. today, when workmen were successful suc-cessful in cutting through the debris with acetylene torches.
