Mrs. Ar thur D. Taylor was co-hostess. Miss Rheta Kay, president, was in charge, and the program in cluded welcome remarks by Miss Kay; sentiment to the mothers. Mrs. Henry Taylor; read in -"Go ing to See Grandma," Marilyn Duke, and a review of the book, "Grandma Called It Carnal," by Bertha Daymen, given by Mrs Lenn Creer. Miss Elaine Brown sang two solos, "Mother of Pearl," and "Wonderful Mother." Mrs. Sherman Christenson pre- ' sented lovely potted plants to the mothers, and a response was made by Mrs. A. K. Hansen. A great many dolls which Miss Pfterson brought home from her tour of the world were worked into the scheme, the central figure fig-ure being that of the Statue of Liberty. Further carrying out the clever arrangements, the hostess planned the dinner menu to include courses representing the choice dishes of the various countries visited. The place cards were scenes from the different countries, coun-tries, and the guests were obliged to guess why they were "sent to that particular country." An old English prayer opened each party. Mrs. Achsa E. Paxman in the afternoon, and Mrs. Thelma - E. Weight in the evening, with musical musi-cal accompaniment to both by Mrs. Lillian Booth. "Apple Blossoms in the Spring" was read in the afternoon by Mrs. Anna B. Hart, and in the evening by Miss Irene Osmond. Also, during dur-ing the afternoon, Mrs. Elsie C. Carroll related her experiences "Rubbing Elbows With People in Other Lands." The evening group was . entertained by Mrs. Annie Tanner, who gave highlights of Mark Twain's "Innocents Abroad." CD- Viennese Nights" Theme At La Vadis Formal Affair Among- the highlight events of the week end was the tenth annual formal dinner-dance of the La Vadis social unit of the B. Y. U., a gay party of Saturday night, held at the Starlit Gardens atop the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City. Miss f Virginia Adair cleverly toasted r the bride and announced the program. Two duets were sung by Misa Elaine Brown and Barney Rawlings, accompanied by Mrs. Zenith Johnson, and a three-act three-act play, "You and I," by Philip Berry, was read by Mrs Izola Lewis. The remainder of the evening eve-ning was spent viewing the bride's beautiful and complete trousseau, much of which was her own hand work. - Personal friends of the bride had charge of the trousseau display dis-play and gift tables as follows: Mrs. Vonda Marrott Mrs. Glen Haslam and the Misses Grace Daniels, Beth Sward, Merilla Worthington, Rhoda King. Margaret Mar-garet Passey, Marjorie Schof ield and Bee Conder. Dainty refreshments, in a pink and blue color scheme, were served to 140 guests. The tea table was covered with a lovely lace cloth over blue, and blue tapers in crystal holders were on either side of a crystal centerpice of pink sweet peas. Mesdames Ellen Conder, Ethel Tregeagle, Fern Lewis, Elizabeth Robertson, Stella Stel-la Garrett, ana Maxine Murdock were in charge of the serving. Re freshments will be served. j All members and women inter- i ested are urged to attend. &&&& Invitation to Open House The seventieth birthday an niversary of James M. Taylor of Vineyard, will be clebratcd with an open house Saturday afternoon at his home. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to call. Mr. Taylor was born in Salem, May 10, 1871, a son of James Allen Al-len and Louise J. Taylor. He lived in Salem until he ' was eight years of age, when he moved to Rabbit valley, Wayne county with his parents. In 1S92 . he married Lucy Young, in the Manti temple. He served a mission An the south ern states from 1900 - 02, and in 1926, served in the same field. During his absence, his wife died, and in 1927, he married her sis ter, Olive Young Gilchrist. He was one of the early settlers set-tlers of Delta, and helped with the canal digging and bridge building. In 1918, he was called to preside over the South Delta L. D. S. branch, and in 1935 he moved to Vinyerad. There are two living, children, Piatt Taylor of Delta, tand Mrs. Nancy Hyder of Jerome, Idaho, Mrs. Taylor will be assisted by her nieces, Mrs. Vernard Anderson Ander-son and Miss Tersus Young. Heuis- ner of Los Angeles, Calif., assistant as-sistant manager of the Farmers Truck Exchange.
