The guests were announced in due royal splendor by two pages, and were greeted by the queen, Miss Dorothy Jones, president of the club; Rulon Paxman, Miss Ila Brockbank, chairman on arrangements; ar-rangements; Neil Peterson, Miss Beile Webb and Roy Nickerson. The dining table was in a 'T"' shape, and was attractively arranged ar-ranged with cornucopias filled with fruits and nuts. Tall white candles in handsome candelabras stood on reflectors, making an unusually un-usually pleasing effect. White carnations were given as favors. Flags of all nations were hung about the walls, and palms and ferns were used throughout. Just preceding the dinner a page read a proclamation from the queen, which she later signed in the presence of her guests. During Dur-ing the dinner, entertainment was furnished by Kay Jensen, pianist; Francell Christensen, who played xylophone selections; dances by Provo high school girls, under the direction of Dorothy Richmond, and vocal music by William Johnson. John-son. Dancing was enjoyed to the music of the Continentals. Twenty Couples were in attendance, attend-ance, including several guesus. Girls Pledged Friday Night The Alta Mitra social unit of the Brigham Young university held its fall pledging ceremonies Friday night at the home of Miss Rdnal Shanks. Mrs. Russell Swensen, sponsor of the unit, gave the pledge to the new girls. Women's organization will be held Monday evening, November 25. at the Hotel Roberts. Plans are near completion, according ac-cording to the committee in charge. The program remains a committee secret, but a banquet, unique and enjoyable, is promised. The committee chairman is Mrs. Alonzo J. Morley. and she is being assisted by Mrs. Elsie C. Cm-foil . Club Members Making Plans For Thursday Meet Miss Marie Ames of St. Louis, Mo., special representative from the National Federation of Business Busi-ness and Professional Women's clubs, will be the guest speaker at the meeting to be held by the Provo B. P. W. club, Thursday at 6:30 p. m. at Hotel Roberts. The Provo club will also be honored with the presence of the Utah state president, Mrs. Maud Neeley Leaver of Salt Lake City, announces Mrs. Ethel D. Ram-beau, Ram-beau, president of the local organization. or-ganization. Also, B. P. W. members mem-bers from Heber City, Payson and Salt Lake City, as well as a number of guests and prospective members will be in attendance. The legislation and music committees com-mittees will be in charge, with Mrs. Christina Chase and Mrs. Amanda Banks as chairmen. Special music has teen planned. Miss Ames is well known as a speaker and writer. She is much interested in international questions quest-ions and attended the 1925 session of the League of Nations. With ether journalists she was admitted to the council meetings and while at Geneva she attended a course in international moliticsj During 1931-32 she was president presi-dent of the Business and Professional Profes-sional Women's club of St. Louis and she put on a course of parliamentary par-liamentary law at the regional convention held in Arkansas, which attracted a large audience. For the last five years she has been active in the Red Cross, taking tak-ing part in the dfeaster and roll call work in the middlewest. Since 1933 she has been interested in social service and she has done much campaign and publicity work in St. Louis in the interest ( f many commercial firms. Fine Paper Given at Club Mrs. W. C. Miller was hostess to members of the Nineteenth Century club Friday afternoon at her home. Mrs. J. M. Vick gave an interesting inter-esting paper on "Social Security -It's , Realization." MAUD NEELEY LEAVER Literary Club Entertains Guests An exceptionally fine program on the life and works of the German Ger-man poet, Heinrich Heine, was given by Mrs. Raymond Richan at the open session of the Literary Liter-ary League, held at the residence of Miss Helena Stewart Friday afternoon. Heine poetry which has been set to music was beautifully sung by Mrs. Bud Nilsson. In her four solos she was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Iceland Van Wagoner. At the close of the program, a tasty luncheon was served by the hostesses: Miss Stewart, Mrs. Heber Juhnson and Miss Rheta Kry.
