President "Pres" Preston G. Peterson, the other evening, tendered his resignation as president of the Utah Central baseball league, a position he has held for two years, during which time baseball prospered in this valley as it had never prospered before. Mr. Peterson has been asked by the league board of controTto reconsider his resignation, and to stay on the job of making baseball as popular here as it is elsewhere truly the great national pastime! The Herald hopes Mr. Peterson will continue at the head of baseball affairs in this part of the state. Baseball needs "Pres" Peterson, despite the ardent opposition of a very small minority Another season or two and organized baseball will survive your resignition, Pres, but not now. You, more than anybody else, has made it possible for league baseball to thrive, but you're not iuut, pea wun me jod. - Street Problems The coming of the steel plant to Provo Springville, will bring new economic, moral, and social problems into these communities, as Dr. Edward A. Steiner asserted. But that shsould be no sufficient reason for not bringing the steel industry here. It should, rather, be all the more reason for preparing to cope with new problems as they arise. Dr. Steiner truly says that a city may be clean morally, and physicially, if industry predominates, provided, always, that diligent and intelligent effort is made to keep the city clean. There will be more smoke in the air; but also, there will be more business and more profits in pockets. There will be higher prices for homes, rents will increase. Also, opportunities to make money, to advance in business carrers, will present themselves. Let us not be deterred from working for the steel plant by any cry of "unclean city," Rather should we set before our eyes the dual task of getting the steel ilant and continuing along our path toward the city clean and the city beautiful. It can be done; not eeasily, but nothing easily won is worthy the winning. rroin k ' ii liin ALE EXTIRAOroilNAIO We have received an normous shipment of the latest patterns of Rugs in Wiltons, Axminsters, Tapestry and WqolHber, in all sizes and colors for this sale Our Policy of True Value- - Giving Will Prevail During This Sale VISIT m'VTfSn OUR DrM S . yn x . wan mj AWL M TO MARCH ' ; y Fire! ww ,v - WAS 6 while they last a $10.00 Vacuum Sweeper with one or more room size Axminster or Velvet Rug bought during sale.
