Show PI O R- SHOULD be made by the city council in the franchise granted the Bell Telephone Cc sLLxrxiHX2 some time ago. If a franchise4 is granted which does .not contain a maximum rate, clause the people of this city will be the losers. The maximum rate clause means thousands of dollars to the people of Provo. There is talk of a mass meeting of protest by the citizens. Weibclieve this will hardly, be necessary. The this unjust d city counciLwill properlyrprotect the interests of its constituents-again- st - it will require considerable sound argument to make the council and the citizens understand why one company can furnish first-claservice and free county foils for less money than the BelPcompany, demands. The franchise which has been passed is liberal enough. The Bell company should not be favored more than any other telephone company. ss At-- : XI 1 VOL; , .t r : ' - - ' '.
