Hr,', THE PROVO POST 125 ur&ui-KZA- Many people who do not feel able to go away on a vacation trip owing to lack of funds, or responsibilities at home, need not feel that they must entirely miss the pleasures of the vacation season. It is not infrequent that those who stay at home get more real rest and pleasure than those who travel long distances and wear . themselves out by feverish activity. JVe sometimes wonder if our home town people realize how many interesting things there are to be seen right in our own neighborhood. People who have automobiles can get just as much pleasure and learn many valuable things in a thorough exploration of the district within a few miles of our beautiful city as those who travel far and wide. In this connection we wonder how many people have taken, a trp around our lake. How many, we wonder, have visited the prolific rookeries, with their thousands of birds of many va- rieties, found on the west shores of the lake. jjow have spent a day in one or more of the hundreds of beautiful canyon retreats in Provo or American Fork canyons. , A few who would travel to foreign parts may have visited some of these or other close points of interest, but we doubt if many have. Even those who have to walk have found great pleasure in the beauties of our hills and lakeside. Many people get much pleasure in their own back yard, where they take pride in mak-ing Mme needed improvement or developing the flower bed or shrubbery in such a way as to lend permanent beauty to the home. AH of these .things give pleasures that the careless tripper may never know.. The old reference that people do not change their nature by changing their skies, is perhaps, applicable ; nor do they always find contentment and peace of mind in the hurry scurry life of the tourist. Oftentimes those who have a cheerful outlook on life, can find plenty of happiness right here at home.
