Show THE PBOVO POST FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28, i FACTORY MAY EDITORIAL COLUMN REVOLUTIONIZE The Zion National Park PAINT TRADE National Park is now a reality, President signed the bill creating the same, and it has now been formally placed under national supervision. As the years come and go that will mean a great expenditure of money, as every one can testify who has witnessed what has been done by the government in Yellowstone National Park, But better than the immense improvement in roads, t., that will come from national care of the park ,is the national advertisement that comes from the creation of a national park. Thousands will hear of Zion National Park who never heard of the Zion National monument and the tourists that will visit it next year will reach tens of thousands, judged by the traffic that came to other national parks when the United States government gave a park its stamp of approval. It may not have oecured to many of our readers that Provo will be immensely lienefited by this traffic. This city is the junction point of the Midland and Arrowhead trails. .Over these two national automobile routes-hav- e gone thousands of transcontinental tourists this season. On one bright fall day eighty automobiles were counted from Eastern States enroute to Southern California. Most of these came to Utah gpunty by way of the Midland trail, and turned southfrom here. Some of these tourists sought rest and more would have lingered Ijere iiad our limited hotel accommodations not been taxed to capacity. Some were forced to go to Salt Lake City for rest at the larger hotels that city provides for the accommodation of transcontinental tourists. There is no good reason why the traffic that is coming should go further north than Provo, and as the business men here provide all tell wants of the travel mg public, they will make this largely the starting point for the new national park and the wonderful Bryce canyon, now made a national monument.. The city is especially well provided with large and garages; amd almost everything that will he needed for a run to the national park can be provided here. The Arrowhead trail is being put into' such splendid condition that it is appealing, even now to the transcontinental travels as does no other automobile trail, and with government help to put in shape the short run from this trail to the National park, we, may expect tourists to southern California to be especially anxious to visit the national wonder land. Dr George E. Kingsley, president of the company and active manager of the plant, realised a life' ambition when the steam was turned into his plant Monday and the - production of the finished material began. . Not all of the machinery has seen installed, but the plant is now operating at a profit, and in a few days tons of will be capable of twenty-fiv- e pigments dally. At present white and chrome lead and Prussian blue are .being made, and the company has sufficient orders ahead to take care of -- the output Processes Revolutionary Dr. Kingsleys processes are ell protected by patent bat, be says, they are revolutionary in their simplicity. One of the most remarkable savings, in addition to the speed with which the pigmente can be produced, ib the total elimination of loss in the raw material. By the older processes used In the largest iqanufaicurlng plants In the world the lead which Is used as the base of the pigment Is secured in the forqj of "pigs from the smelters. They, by a slow and tedious process, he pig lead is converted by corrosion requires into white lead. The pm-esabout three months. At the smelter the iron and sine is removed , and the pigment factory receives only the lead, notwithstanding that sine and iron also may be used M dye bases. Dr. Kingsley's process cut out the smelr ter entirely. His raw material tv tne actual lead ore. This lie reduces In bis plant through the agency or chemicals. and there is no wastage. U. S. Railroads have gone through same experience. Special privileges to favored patrons, stock waterng and political domintaon by a few roads finally so aroused public resentment that legislation re suited which was so restrictive that it became destructive and good and bad roads alike suffered. The liquor traffic went through the same experience, to purge itself of the lawless element which Tefused it made itself a menace to the community by selling to minors, drunkards and the needy whose families suffered. Public sentiment was finally aroused and to remedy the situation it wiped out the whole business. The legal profession suffers from the shysters, the medical profession from quacks and journalism from the yellow editor who is out to stir up trouble for his own selfish interests regardless of consequence. Whenever any evil proceeds too far, public senti ment will wipe it out. Unless conservative labor leaders take an open a"d outspoken stand against their radical and membership, public sentiment will wipe out good and bad alike, just as it has done with every other abuse affecting the whole public. required.
