The organization is prepared to give more efficient aid during the com- V i ing summer, The association gave a very successful School Patrons ball, the proceeds of which will be used to give proper instructions in dancing to the children. The dances will be well chaperoned and the officers are anxious that boys and girls go in groups with a chaperon where parents are unable to accompany them. Parents are urged to attend the school dances and have a so cial time for themselves and aid the boys and e girls in learning the good quadrille and other suitable dances. Meeting are held monthly at the home of one of the officers or the principals of the schools where home and school problems are discussed and good is being accomplished. The work of the Home and School organization has evidently been recognized by the state organization as two of its members have been asked to fill prominent positions In the state or- vice-preside- f A T this time it is a privilege to thank our friends and patrons for the old-tim- HOME AND SCHOOL The close of the year 1916 finds the Home and School association of our public schools fully organized with the following officers: Mrs. John R. Stewart, president; Supt. L. E. Eggertsen, 1st vice president; Principal Reid Beck, 2nd vice president; Mrs. 0. R. Thomas, secretary; Yilate Knudsen, corresponding secretary, Vilate Kninl-secorresponding secretary, and Mrs. George A. Startup, treasurer. An active Civic committee consisting of representatives from parents classes, club and been churches has"also organized. The usefulness of the organization is growing as it is, First : Assisting the school in reaching the desires of, the home. Second: It is aiding the school in giving the child the most benefit in community life and in good citizenship. Thirds It is Assisting lhe school jn emphasizing simplicity in dress. Prof. Mosiah nail complimented the ProvcT'schools on the success it had achieved in this line. Fourth: It is trying to assist the schools in securing needed apparatus and equipment in domestic science, manual training, etc, We feel that in this we are only keeping up with the times, as Commissioner Claxton makes the statement that when the citizens assist the public schools by special gifts or financial help, the whole community receives a benefit in securing good lectures, and good music for the parents' benefit. ' Sixth : They are empha- - many courtesies extended us during the year and wish them not only a Happy Holiday Season but a New Year full of the promise of prosperity and the joy of living.
