The following .report on the line was made Satur' day. For the past ten days a corpa of engineers has been in the field making afinal survey for an electric road between Salt Lake and Provo. The work ou this line has been carried on quietly for the jiast three months and is tojtie backed by western capital. It was learned today that ample means are behind the project to push it through to. completion as rapidly as money and men can accomplish it. The engineers have been working quietly and have begmn the location of a high speed interurban line, with thg ultimate' aim of extending eastward into Uintah county, southward to Nephi and later of pentrating the coal region. More than tl third of the location w of k has been "completed. The moving spirits in this enterprise are John MaeGinniss, president of the Silver Bow National bank of Butte, Mont.,' and Thaddeus S. Lane, a wealthy banker and telephone rfiagnate of Spokane, Wash. The financiers for this project recently visited Balt Lake and made a careful inspection of the alignment of the road as far as Spanish Fork. It is declared that they wer enthusias; tic over the possibilities of the route to be covered and' it is tfieir intention to at once incorporate. in thitf state under the name of the Utah Interurban Electric company.- - The preliminary work for the', road has all been done and it is declared that it will not be longr before all the survey wTork will have been completed. It is announced that amplo funds are immediately available for the voustruefion of the road, and for its complete equipment with the most modem rolling -- stock. The work is in charge of a Chicago engineering firm, and it is confidently predicted by them that the first unit of the system, extending from this city to Provo, will be in operation "within a year from date. The road as projected will traverse the most fertile and thickly populated portion of the valley and will have a terminal in the. heart of Salt Lake. - The motive power has already been provided for through a eon- tract secured wfith the Telluride Power company by Mr. MaeGinniss, This calls for .5.000 horsepower for a period of 10 years, . It is the intention of Mr. Lane to give much of liis personal at- tentum-Uulh- e local development of the companys plans. Both he and Mr. MaeGinniss are expected to arrive in the city shortly to confer w ith the Engineers regarding the work and arrange other details. -- POPULAR .
