S second-clas- matter accord i eg to s BOOST FOR THEJETERURBAN, The activity' on the part "of tins ptum&itr of the Salt Lake and Utah Valley Interurban Railroad augurs well for the bringing of the interurban line to Provo and with that lime an era of prosperity that has hitherto been unknown in the dnstory of UtahCountyT T This reached a point in its development whereby consistent county-ha- s effort and proper utilizing, of its resources it could be, made to provide for doable the population now making a living within its borders. During the last few years much' development work has been done and some of the best soil which ten years ago produced nothing but sagebrush w today producing more than the land considered to be the best at that time. Ten years snore will bring .about further changes in this county, in fact within five years, if the. people get work limnison-fo- r the upbuilding of this county wonders little thought of now may be accomplished. In the last few years we have had a development of water which has done wonders for the agricultural interests of the county, and with the "opening of the Strawberry Tunnel we may expect still greater wonders. To come into Its own properly the county must have an electric railroad, which will bring the people together from north,' south and center more quickly than has been the ease in the past. Nothing can fill this hill better than the interurban road, as it will provide a service which will make it possible for quick travpl from one town to another without Jhe loss of tune which people nave to experience under the present -- -- -- conditions. Tlie promoters of the interurban system are certainly working for a gbod cause when thicy devote their time to the establishment of an interurban road, .and we hope the people will get behind the movement to sueh an extent that the Salt Lake commissioners will see the importance of it and grant a liberal franchise. Salt Lake would develope more rapidly with sueh a line running tltronagh the best district in the entire state and the Salt Lake commissioners can make no mistake by aiding the interurban company to build its line through by giving it an entrance to that eity. . v GATHER BP THE RUBBISH. With spring approaching rapidly it is time for the people of Provo to consider cleaning up the waste and debris which has been collecting during the winter months, and the sooner we get down to business in this line the better it will be for the health of the people and the general appearance of Provo. As is usual during the winter time, large quantities of ashes and .other waste gathers In unsightly -- heaps and form excellent brecding.grouiids.for s flies and disease hauled away "before the warm days of spring set in. The people should also trim the trees in their yards and along the streets, and give the people of Prov'o the benefits of the right kind of an appearance. This eity has long been known as the Garden City, of Utah but we Cannot continue to keep that name unless we are all willing to get in and do some work toward keeping it clean. It is useless to boast about being a Garden City while branches overhang the side walks, rank weeds skirt the sides of the .pavcment and the back yards are filled with ashes and the debris that represents the waste of months. un-les- FAITH IN FRIENDSHIP There are times when we think we see in some friend the highest ideal to which we can aspire, and we try to draw from liis friendship the best inspirations of life. Fortunately,. it is not uncommon for such hopes do be realized, for dis-i- crested. friendship Is by no means an unknown quantity Iq'fihe vexing problem of existence, says the Charleston News and Courier. II& ever, there are many tilnes when our confidence in another person s rudely shaken, when the hopes least expected and upon which we Lave, built our faith give our beautiful ideal lies shattered at our feet. We may piek up the fragments and try to piece them together, and perhaps for .a while, so deepFs oufToyaIty7sd firm omr we appear to fit the broken parts again, but always at the last, just before success rewards our efforts, wefind that something is missings Try as we may, we cannot fill the break, and we realize too late never again ean we mend our broken ideals.. No matter how strong our faith, or how willing we are to make allowances, tl e faith that is rudely shattered can never be made whole again. Things may appear to go on as before, and we may pretend to believe that one ideal more or less will make no difference, but deep down in ur heart we will know that the 'loss cannot be replaced, and that j.he only thing to do is to look about ns with renewed faith and build for ourselves other foundations for our hopes and choose other examples for our emulation. a way-wbe- William Irackwinkel of Salt of - eapitalr makes .. growingqf Lake has written the following fruit on a large scale safer and article on Cold Storage af a more profitable and makes it pos- for sible for more people to obtain Factor in Marketing - Fruit the Intermountain Fruit Journal, choice fruit the greater partof the in whieh-hsets forth much in- year.
