Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Shepherd and Prof, and Mrs. Irwin Jensen left Tuesday for their homes in Paris, Idaho after spending a week at the Lyman Rich home. DEATH CLAIMS T ESTHER AH ER PAYSON Mrs. Esther Jeanette Tanner, 47, wife of Ezra L. Tanner Tan-ner died at the family home 315. West- Utah Avenue, Thuesday morning from . pneumonia sild''f fluenza. Her death came as "distinct- shock- to- her many friends tin all parts of Utah county. Mrs. Tanner-has been an active L. D. S. church worker throughout through-out her life. She was a member of the Nebo stake -Relief society Board, having served as secretary and treasurer since 1932. Previous to that time she was secretary and treasurer of the Second ward Relief society under five presidents. presi-dents. At the recent election of the Sego Lily camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers she was elected president. She has been secretary and treasurer and has been acting president. Mrs. Tanner was born in Provo July 5, 1889, a daughter of Henry and Betsy N. Kay Goddard. She was married to Mr. Tanner in the Salt Lake temple December 4, 1912, and has resided in Payson since that time. She is survived by her husband, three sons and two daughters, Lyle, Verl, Ean, Donna and Leola PAYSON ; MBS. A. K. They were close friends of the late Dixon Webb who was Skilled lin a plane crash in Chicago. En route to Payson they visited in the canyons of southern Utah and from here they went to Salt Lake City to be remarried n the Salt Lake temple. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Smith of Benson, Arizona and Mrs. Maud Lersen of Virden, New Mexico are visiting at the home of their sister sis-ter Mrs. Frank McClellan. They were called to Payson by. the illness ill-ness and death of their brother Joe Patten. "Mrs. Smith was-formerly Miss Ella Patten of Payson. Mr. and 'Mrs. Henry- Erlandson were In Salt Lake City this week for the graduation of their youngest young-est daughter, Miss Ada Erland- Tanner, all of Payson; two brothers, broth-ers, William and Hugh Goddard of Provo; one sister, Mrs. Roland Olson of Salt Lake City. The Gleaner class of the Third ward M- L A. entertained at a kitchen shower Monday night in honor of Miss Ruby Page, a bride of . the week, who has . been the Gleaner class president during the past year. T"fte delightful affair was held at the home of Mrs- WU-mer WU-mer Hill, the class leader. Games were played during the evening and refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. John Beharrell of London, England, arrived last Thursday night for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. John F. Oleson. Mrs. Beharrell and Mrs. Oleson are sisters. They made the trip from Southampton, England, to New York City on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary. After a short visit in New York and Chicago they came to Salt Lake City by plane, and were met there by Mr. and Mrs. Oleson. The Olesons and their guests left Sunday on a trip to the beautiful beau-tiful canyons of southern Utah and Boulder dam. They returned home Wednesday and will go to Salt Lake for the week end. Miss Ruby Page, a June bride, was the guest of honor at a bridal shower given by the members of the class she has been teaching in the Third ward Sunday school. , The delightful affair was arranged ar-ranged as a surprise and Mrs. Rebecca Re-becca Tweede, co-worker with Miss Page assisted. Games of various kinds were enjoyed and lunch was served. Each guest presented a gift to the bride-elect. Miss Madge Elmer, who is to be married in June, was honored xat a surpise party last Thursday night given by the officers and teachers of the First ward Pri mary organization. Lunch was served and a program of games was enjoyed. Miss Elmer is serving as president of the Primary and her co-workers presented her with a lovel bridal gift Mrs. Stanley Wilson was hostess hos-tess to the Junior Delta Bridge club Thursday afternoon. Special guests were Mrs. George F. Wilson, Wil-son, Mrs. Harvey Smith, Mrs. Henry Erlandson, Mrs. Dave Shu-ler, Shu-ler, Mrs. Selby Dixon and Mrs. vAnn Butterworth. Club prizes were given to Mrs. Clyde Wilson and Mrs. Will McClellan and the .guest favor went to Mrs. George T. Wilson.
