The child fell through an automobile door, and was. in slant! v killed, although untouched by the wheels of the car. Only a few minutes before the fatal occurrence, Mrs. Ander son had given birth to a baby daughter in a Provo hospital. The passing of a bright, alert child, who had all lite be j fore her, is sad enough under any conditions. The - unfor tunate accident that claimed the life of Madeline Anderson under such circumstances makes her death even more touch- ing. '' Y ' " ' . - v The memory, of Madeline's sweetness will remain when : the pain of the sudden bereavement has been softened by I time. V Y. . ' Words are little in a tragedy of this sort; butevery j sympathetic feeling of the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. An-? An-? derson is tendered at this trying period. i ' " ' " -: ' ... -. Fair Fqr,One: Fair For the Other Just suppose a government official toured the country telling workmen to "cut production ; make fewer goods; don't do so much work, so that prices can go up and you can get . more money." - Oh, boy! What a racket there would be! How all the viewers-with-alarm would rave! Why, any man who advocated that sort of thing would land in jail as a dangerous bolshevist in about two minutes. . Yet that is exactly what the members of Mr. Hoover's farm board are telling the farmers. ; If it is right for a farmer to arbitrarily curtail" produc-'i produc-'i tion in order to make a mechanic pay more for bread, it's 4 fair for the mechanic to loaf on the job so that the farmer's plow will cost more. II it isn i, wny isn i ui - , Help the West and It Will Help You The securities supervisor, of a western state, who ought to know, says that annual losses by investment infraudulent infraudu-lent stock are far greater than by all other forms of robbery rob-bery combined. - - , . ; . -,r. He's probably right. The average citizen who is stung on worthless stock to the tune of-thousands usually mourns in silence. If he is held up and robbed of $2 and a dollar watch he" tells the. police about it. ' ' x The west holds many legitimate opportunities for investment. in-vestment. The returns may not be 100 per cent the first year as usually promised by the ultra-rapid 'salesmen of fake shares but the normal growth of the west will insure good profits to almost any well-managed legitimate concern. -When you invest in a get-rich-quick scheme you not only throw away your money, but you deprive legitimate industry of needed capital. -. . - X -: ; ' '"f- It's better, to be content with 10 per cent and no worries than to have the promise, of ten times that interest and continual worry. " 'Y . ' y Only Nine Votes ' Thermal voteoifthe London naval treaty proved that the ODposition'to the treaty was not nearly as strong numerically numer-ically as it was vocally. For a good many days the die-hards had a great deal to say.anu to judge from their actions one would have supposed that at least half of the nations citizens citi-zens -were walking the streets at night in an agony of fear lest 'our navy be sunk wihout a trace. But wlien it camcto a showdown, there were just nine opposition votes. . m : It may be that it is just a little bit harder to get Amen- cans excited about the dangers mat ne in co-oytruung wi n Europe than it used to be. Six or eight years ago the whole nation was suspicious and jump about such things. Now, however, we seem to have grown more sensible. It-is certain that the antics ofthe die-hards over the naval treaty did not stir a ripple of excitement in the public mind. - Howdy, folks It Is only a question of time until the. fir st requirement of time until the first requirement to make a non-s:op flight across the Pacific. i " ' Ahd-in a few years owners of yacant clouds will charge25 cents a day for parking air fliwers?".
