S. air service at New York City to March Field near Riverside, River-side, California, left Tuesday morning for his new position after af-ter spending five days visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam R. Creer of Lake Shore. Miss Charlotte Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. R- Beck accompanied ac-companied her cousin Lieutenant William Creer to Santa Monica, California, where she will spend two weeks attending the closing sessions of the Santa Monica junior high school, at which she was formerly a student. She will spend the summer visiting relatives rela-tives in California. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Chappie and their daughter and son-in-law of Rigby, Idaho, have been visiting for the past week with Jiis father, Joseph Chappie. Mr. and Mrs. Le Mar Price and sons Paul and Garth of Richfield, Rich-field, are visiting with Mrs. Uri Stewart Jr., for a few days while Mr. Price is making a business trip to Ogden. Mrs. S. R. Beck was hostess at a delightful bridge luncheon for the Sorosis club Thursday evening. Luncheon was served at 8:30 to ten members and six guests, Mrs. John Knox, Los Angeles; Miss Vivian Taylor of Payson; Mrs. Emma Olsen, Mrs. Jennie May Thomas, Mrs. Hannah Han-nah H. Swenson and Mrs. Emma Hughes. Bridge followed luncheon, lunch-eon, Mrs. C. M. Jacobsen winning win-ning the club prize for high score; Mrs. John Knox, the honored hon-ored guest prize and Mrs. Jennie May Thomas the guest prize. Mrs. John Knox left Wednesday Wednes-day morning for her home in Los Angeles, after spending a week here visiting with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Jones and other relatives and friends. Mrs. James Miller, who has been visiting for some weeks in California, has returned to her home here. Bishop and Mrs. George Hales announce the marriage of their daughter, Helen, to Mervin H. Peterson of Payson. The marriage took place Saturday at the home of the bride's parents. Bishop L. F. Smith officiated. Mr. Peterson Peter-son has been in poor health for some time and the day following the marriage he was taken to the L.D.S. hospital in Salt Lake where he is receiving treatment preparatory to undergoing an operation for toxic goitre. He is a patient of Dr. Richards. Miss Helen Hales was the honored guest at a bride's breakr fast given by the Fidelas social unit of the B. Y. U. of which she is a member at the Roberts Hotel. Provo, Sunday morning at 10 a. m. Mrs. I. E. Brockbank of Provo entertained Saturday in honor of Miss Helen Hales, a June bride. Mrs. Leah Harrison and Mrs. Mary Frampton entertained at a bride's shower at SpringviHe .Friday afternoon in honor of their sister. Miss Helen Hales. The following members of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 68 of Spanish Fork, were in attendance Sunday at the convention conven-tion of the Fourth district auxiliary aux-iliary convention at Nephi: President Presi-dent Maggie Stewart; Vice-President, Grace Nelson; Mrs. Daisy Daniels, Mrs. Hannah H. Swenson, Swen-son, Mrs. Josephine Taylor, Mrs. Grace Beck, Mrs. Hazel Larsen and Mrs. Marie Nelson.- Mrs. Beck and Mrs. Taylor with Mrs. Hazel Larsen, accompanist, entertained en-tertained with two duets. Mrs. Marie Nelson was elected first vice-president of the auxiliary of t Fourth district. The conven tion was well attended and State President Mrs. Corine waaswortn gave an address. A banquet was served at noon to the visiting delegates. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Briggs announce the engagement of their daughter, Maudie, to Merle hBarron of Ames, Iowa. Tne couple will be married June in Salt Lake City. They will make their home in Glendale, California. Miss Briggs is at present stewardess for the West-ern West-ern Airways Express line. Mrs. Walter Briggs returned home Thursday from Los Angeles, An-geles, California, where she went to visit her daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Gil-bert (Ted) Brown. She made both trips by air, flying with her daughter, Miss Maudie Briggs. Mrs. Eliza Johnson was hostess to the Laurencelle club Wednesday Wednes-day evening. The rooms were attractive at-tractive with spring flowers. A tasty luncheon was served at the card tables. Three tables of '500' followed, Mrs. Emma Swenson winning the high score favor for the members; Mrs. Elsie Cornaby the guest prize, and Mrs. Mima Hales a special cut prize. Additional Ad-ditional guests were Mrs. Viola Adams and Mrs. Ethel Snyder. There were nine members present. pres-ent. Mr. Louis Meadows of Salt Lake City, was the week end Simpson Moves to Obtain Redress LONDON, June 11 (ILR) Ernest Aid rich Simpson, after months of self-imposed silence, sought redress re-dress in the high court of justice today against gossip that resulted from the divorce suit brought against him by the present Duchess Duch-ess of Windsor. The result was that 'he obtained a full unreserved apology from Mrs. Joan Sutherland, a society woman, who at a West End luncheon lunch-eon table asserted that he had been "well paid" to permit the then Wallis Warfield Simpson to divorce him. Costs were awarded against Mrs. Sutherland. Simpson sought no damages and the Lord Chief Justice of England, Lord Hewart, who heard the case in person, withdrew it from the record. Spanish Fork unit was honored by receiving the national citation for having its membership quota over the top by Nov. 15, 1936.
