Show OUR 0PLMONS. There are some people who haye no principles, no convictions; they are liale more than bundles of sentiments, notion, opinions and hence you never know where to find them. They are everything by turns and nothing long. Others there are who have good opinions opin-ions and wrong convictions, and the contradictions often observable in them; while holding what is good.they do mostly what is wrong, our conduct being determined not by our opinions, but hy our convictions. A manrt convictions con-victions and bis opinions are often sadly opposed to each other, and in the crisis of temptation the opinion is always over-ruled and over-ridden by tlie convictions. Our opinions are outward out-ward tilings; our convictions, as some rne lias said, are"just the growth and the result of our passions, affections aspirations and sympathies, the flower into w hich these open and expend," a i d they are our convictions that character a:J lif that decide the man. j |
