Show Funeral ot S. P. Henrichsen, The funeral services over the remains of Elder Soren P. Henrichsen were held in the Second Ward meetinghouse, meeting-house, Friday August 16, 1895, at 3 p. m. After prayer by Elder Edward Peay the choir Bang by special request "O My Father." 'Ihe following biographical sketch was read: "Soren Peter Henrichsen was the second eon of Peter and Jacobine Henrichsen. Hen-richsen. He was born January 9, 1846 in Veile city and county, DemarK. He was baptized in 1864, being the first of bis father's bouse to embrace the gospel. In 1864 he emigrated to Utah. "A few years after his arrival here in the valleys he was called, in connection con-nection with .others, to go back to the states and 'assist in bringing the emigrants emi-grants across the plains with ox teams. This mission be performed to the satisfaction sat-isfaction of his superiors. "in the year 1879, he was called and honorably tilled a mission to the North western states, promulgating the gospel gos-pel of Christ. 'On bis first arrival In Utah from Denmatk. alter a journey across the Atlantic and the plains of America which lasted six months, he settled down in Big Cottonwood where he re-Bided re-Bided until his demise. At the time ot his death he held the office of a seventy and was president of the Scandinavian meetings. "He naE performed considerable work in the temples and lived and died a faithful Latter-day Saint. 'He leayes a wife and ten children, also an aged mother and several broth-era broth-era and eisters to mourn hia loss. "UiB death occurred on August 15. 1895, caused by Bright's disease of the Kidneys." Elder George Groneman, one of deceased's de-ceased's old acquaintances spoke very feelingly of his sterling integrity to tbeitruth and his good work. Bishop Myron Tanner held the family in high esteem and encouraged all to look forward to the bright day of the resurrection. Elder Alexander Wilkins spoke of general salvation and contrasted the same with the salvation given to the valiant and obedient sons of God. Elder Simon Eggertsen sympathized with the bereaved wife and children. He hoped the Lord would be their anchor of support. After Bishop Wride made some remarks re-marks and prayed God to bless tnj bereaved family and relatives, the choir sang '-Nearer My God to Thee," and eighteen carriages followed the remains re-mains to the cemeteiy where Elder Thuesen off ?red the dedicatory prayer. |
