Chief Pratt of Salt Lake is the latest officer to get into trouble. He seems to be in a bad mess of it, as reputable Salt Lake business men are accusing him of being instrumental in the removal re-moval of the scarlet women from Franklin avenue to Commercial street for no other purpose than to augment his income by the increased rents from certain property he owns or has an interest in-terest in on that street. The Brigham Young Trust company and other property pro-perty owners on Commercial street are making a strenuous and just complaint against having these fallen creatures herded onto or near their premises. In the quiet little town of Proyo nothing sensational has as yet developed connected con-nected with the police force, but there are those who are seriously asking the questions: Why is it that under our present administration gambling houses, bawdy houses, etc.. are allowed to run until they become old and established es-tablished things in the city, when heretofore, here-tofore, under other administrations, these things were nipped in the bud? Is it due to the inefficiency of our officers or is it the policv of the republican repub-lican administration to let these places run without interference ?
