evening in the tabernacle taber-nacle to which the public is invited trill be the final and formal closing of what has indeed been a very profitable and most enjoyable meet O C GOODWIN of the Salt Lake Tribune Tri-bune had something to say to the teachers at the academy last night What it was only a few of them know The gentleman talked so low and his articulation was so horribly indistinct that the majority of his audience were unable to tell what he was saying The lecture waa on this account a dismal failure ATTEND the first grand reunion of the pioneers at Saltair Aut 20th Only 150 under the auspices of the Brigham Young academy that Provo people cannot well understand Just why the three Salt Lake papers yesterday received recognition recog-nition and thanks in fact unstinted praise at the suggestion of Professor I Cluff for the work they have done for the summer school while the local papers pa-pers were ignored is not clear to them THE DISPATCH speaking for itselffeels that it has done ample justice to the school in publishing comprehensive and complete reports reports not so volumnious it is true as were sent up to and published by the Salt Lake papers pa-pers neither were thsy so mushy it asks not for praise at any time but just why Salt Lake should be BO especially honored and all home en terprises forgotten some of its friends would like to know And again sjme complain that Provo teachers who attended the summer school during institute week only were I Charged 5300 Utah county teachers from outside or Provo who attended the same length of time paid nothing This was justified by the management on the ground that the county court made an appropriation to pay for the county teachers not inculding Provo teachers as the school law does not require that they shall attend a summer institute The facts are ig norned the Provo teachers eav that the Provo teachers are members of the Utah County Teachers association and that the money appropriated was taken from county funds raised by taxation of all the county not a part of it Another An-other cause for complaint is that all the county superintendents in attendance attend-ance were called upon yesterday at the close of the school to make a few remarks re-marks but notwithstanding the fact that more teachers were in attendance from Provo than from some of the counties
