St. George's water storage tanks have fallen to the lowest level ever and officials said usage must be cut drastically to allow the tanks to refill. City water officials said they are most concerned because there is not sufficient water to fight a major fire. "There's no need to panic," Utilities Director Wayne McArthur said. "We aren't anywhere near the point of not having water to drink or bathe, we just can't use it for landscape purposes." The tanks' low water levels are due to heavy demand caused by a week of more than temperatures and electrical outages that have knocked wells out of operation for up to 13 hours at a time, McArthur said. Ivins and Santa Clara are included in the water shortage because they get their water from the St. George system. Officials said the key to conserving the 10 million to 14 million gallons of water a day that comes into the city is the temporary halt to outdoor watering, followed by a program of conservation. biathlon, an event combining y skiing and shooting a rifle.
