(Leontine Carter) DOROTHY DIX - Renting and Jantiri Makes Double Trouble By MURIEL NISSEN DEAR DOROTHY DIX: My husband and I are a middle-age- d couple, married just a few xyears. it iir j c 1 housekeeping in furn a isnea apartment, ine lady who own3 the house lives in the other half and, since this Is a conversion job, the -- apartments are separ a t e d by Muriel Nissen very thin walls. My husband and I get along very well, except for the occasional quarrels that every couple has. We both have quick tempers and during our arguments t h e landlady, of course, can. hear every word. When we first came here she and I were very good friends. We confided our innermost secrets to each other and, while I kept her confidences, she didn't ;, respect mine. She tol dmany things to my husband that were df no concern of his, and these have caused some of our quarrels.. Now she's spreading honey around my man. She makes up to him every chance she gets, even in front of her own husband. Then she tells me that I should leave- him because he has such a violent temper. I want to move but my, husband won't hear of it. This place is inexpensive as rents go in this town and near his work. What can I do? Bonnie DEAR BONNIE:- At your age " -- - ' . you should know better than to take your j innermost secrets to any willing ear. Haven't j you learned ' that eager listeners I are only too quick to spill everything they have picked up? You landlady is a professional troublemaker but. if you don't "let her in on so much, she won't have material to work with." Stop the confidences stop the quarreling and find something to do with your days. Be a better companion to your; husband and you'll have nothing to worry about. Fri - ; Dear Dorothy Dix: I am a mid widow. On a recent trip oat of town I Was introduced to a charming man whose wife is confined to an institution. When I returned home and told ay friends about him, they acted as if I had done a terrible thing. rLast week he made a business trip to this town and phoned, asking me to dinner. I refused as I was rather upset by my friends attitude. Was this right? H. h. Deaf H. H.: This situation poses a very delicate problem. A man in this spot who wants to observe a code of decency doesn't have many friends and is a very lonely person-Ther- e is certainly no harm in hava dinner or movie date with ing him. But who can be sure that you'll be satisfied with that? Going out with him isn't wrong; the consequences might be. Unless you're a woman of strong principles, I advise, you not to take the chance. die-ag- ed Tells ' Pbyson Group About Hypnotism Julia Knudson : Has 88th Bir - Mrs . Julia A.
