By GAYNOR MADDOX NEA Staff Writer Cherry bounce , isn't a dance it's a dessert. .Make it of fresh, canned or frozen cherries and then celebrate. Hot Cherry Bounce .Serves 4 to 8) Pudding: 2 cups enriched flour 8 teaspoons baking powder, V. teaspoon salt,' H cup quick oats, M cup sugar, 14 teaspoons grated grat-ed lemon rind, 2 tablespoons fortified for-tified margarine, : 1 egg, 1 cup milk. Sauce: 1 cup cherry Juice, 1& tablespoons cornstarch, 1-3 to M cup sugar, 1 tablespoon fortified margarine, 1 tablespoon . lemon Juice, Vi teaspoon almond extract (if available), 1 cup pitted, sour red cherries Sift, measure flour. Stir in oats, sugar and lemon rind. Cut in margarine until it disappears. Add egg to milk and stir until blended. Add to dry ingredients and mix very lightly. Add half of cherries to dough, if desired Turn into well greased 1 quart Farewell Given For Sgt. Snyder The Vineyard ward patriotic committee gave a party Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joy O. Clegg, in honor of Sgt. Ben Snyder of the military police, who Is leaving for Fort Custer, Mich., after a furlough here. The Vineyard ward girls chorus furnished music, and games and lunch were enjoyed by a large crowd. Brothers Entering Navy; Honored Mr. and Mrs. Arthur P. Wilson entertained at a birthday dinner party Tuesday evening at their home, in honor of Dutler and Daryle Dauwalder. Here's a bran muffin recipe using lard. Bran Orange Muffins One and cups Shredded bran, 1 cup milk, 1 egg, cup melted lard, cup flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 3 teaspoons baking powder, J,a teaspoon salt, M cup orange marmalade. 1 Combine " bran and milk; let stand 5 minutes. Beat egg; add with lard to bran. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; add to bran. Place y of the batter in greased muffin plans filling 1-3 full; top each with 1 teaspoon orange marmalade and fill pans with remaining batter. bat-ter. Bake in hot oven (400 degrees ) 25 minutes. Makes about 12. Benjamin The annual Benjamin Homecoming Homecom-ing will be held here Monday, June 12, 1944. Chairman is Angel Carass. The program will commence at 10:30 a. m. at the Benjamin chapel.
