County Board Meet With approximately C5 representatives repre-sentatives in attendance, the regular reg-ular meeting1 of the Utah county D. U. P. board was held Saturday Satur-day afternoon, under the direction direc-tion of President Sarah Passey. President Passey reported on activities and accomplishments of the various camps in the county. 'One new camp 'has been organized organ-ized in Goshen, with Mrs. Emma Burraston Fowler, captain. Camp Mountainville at Alpine, has elected elect-ed new officers with Mrs. Florence Flor-ence T. Strong, captain; and Camp American Fork also had elected new officers with Mrs. Ada Wagstaff, captain, President Passey reported. Plans for a Christmas party sponsored each year by the D.U. P. county board, for inmates at the county infirmary were discussed dis-cussed during the afternoon. The affair will be held this year on Saturday, December 14. beginning begin-ning at 1:30 p. m. Mrs. Passey will act us chairman and will be assisted by Mrs. Florence B. Baird. county secretary; Mrs. Mabel G. Kirk, county treasurer. Mrs. Emma G. John, cheer leader, will act as chairman of the pro-cram pro-cram committee. j The party will feature a visit from Santa and the distribution of gifts to each inmate. City and county commissioners, camp members mem-bers and others interested, ar e invited in-vited to attend. Captain Passey alsp spoke briefly brief-ly on the lesson work and suggested sug-gested that the' book, "Heartthrobs "Heart-throbs of the West," which includes in-cludes many pioneer historic facts, would be an appropriate Christmas Christ-mas gift. Short talks were also given by Mrs. Emma - Beardall, Springville Camp Kolob captain, who reported a successful entertainment enter-tainment sponsored by that camp; Mable G. Kirk, on membership, stating that dues must be in by March; Ida Fillmore, stressing the importance of dates on newspaper news-paper clippings for the D. U. P. scrap books; Amanda Johnson, on histories. "Mrs. Osa B. Ferguson, state - auditor, complimented the daughters on their fine work, in a short talk. The lesson was on "Women of Deseret," directed by Mrs Nellie J.- Olsen of Camp 3. Provo, assisted as-sisted by Mrs. Jennie McCoard Wilkins. Singing was under direction di-rection of Mrs. Iva M. Chase, county Chorister, with Mrs. Lula Hermensen, also of Payson, accompanist. ac-companist. Prayer was by Mrs. Emma E. Stratton, county chaplain. chap-lain. H FIRST VAItl The teacher's report will be received re-ceived and the literary lesson will be given in place of the work and business. The lesson will be in charge of Mrs. Nellie R. Robinson and Mrs. Vivian Lambert. SECOND WARD The nutrition lesson will be given by Mrs. Stella Redford, the subject being, "Teeth and Bones." Mrs. Mertie Hiatt will give the lesson on designing. THIRD WARD The literary lesson, a conclusion of the book, "Adam Bede," will be given by Mrs. Loeta Dixon. Special Spe-cial numbers will be given by the choir and there will bo a nursery. FOURTH WARD An apron, pie and cake sale will be held at the Fourth warn directed by the work and busines committee. PLEASANT VIEW WARD The literary section will have the program in charge directed by Mrs. Emily Baum. Mrs. Celestia Taylor will review the book, "The Nazarene," and special music will be given by Mrs. Diantha Ekins. There will be nursery. MANAVU WARD The work and business section will be in charge, the lesson to feature a talk on the care of the teeth, by Dr. L. E. McKell. All members are asked to read the lesson les-son and participate in a discussion discus-sion to follow the lesson. Mrs. Baker's handiwork will be on exhibit. ex-hibit. There will be a nursery. BONNEVILLE WARD It will be literary day in Bonneville Bonne-ville ward, the lesson to be under direction of Mrs. Eva Williams, Mrs. Estella Eames, Mrs. Gwen Strang. The Bonneville Relief society so-ciety will hold their bazaar on Monday, December 10 instead of Tuesday, December 17. It will be in connection with the ward dinner. din-ner. A Christmas program will be given at the Tuesday Relief society meeting. Friends At Bridge Party , A large group of friends enjoyed en-joyed a duplicate bridge party Sunday afternoon and evening at the Edna Mae Hedquist home, with dinner served during the early evening. Junior Girls On Excursion An enjoyable time was spent by 67 junior girls of Provo stake Saturday on an excursion to the Salt Lake temple. They were baptized for .800 names. After the work at the temple, they assembled at the Hotel Utah for a banquet, during which an entertaining theme, "You and Your Life," was carried out in clever toasts. Chaperoning the girls and assisting as-sisting with arrangements for the excursion were: Miss Alice Boot, Mrs. Stagg, Maxine Bjer-regaard, Bjer-regaard, Mrs. Bell Van Wagenen, Miss. Two papers, "Architectural Goths of the Gilded Age" and "Sound Traditions in American Architecture," were gfiven by Mrs. J. Wyley Sessions and Mrs. Edgar M. Jensen, respectively. Pupils from the fourth, fifth and sixth gTades entertained with Christmas Christ-mas carols, led by Miss Verl Brailsford. FOURTH WARD The preliminary program will include a demonstration of dances by Carol Lambert, dance manager. Meridith Wilson will discuss "Marriage and Courtship" in the M Men and Gleaner class. SIXTH WARD The Sixth ward program will feature a Christmas carol service during preliminary exercises. PIONEER WARD During the afterclass period, a one-act play, "Sign Unto You," directed by Mrs. Chloe Madsen, will be presented. The cast includes in-cludes Vet Anderson, Chloe Mad-Fen, Mad-Fen, Horace Peay, Fay Tuttle, Tolly Taylor and Frankie Madsen. IiONNEVILLE WARD A ono-act play will be given during preliminary exercises directed di-rected by Mrs. L. Tueller. Jack Tueller will give a cornet solo. In the Gleaner class, Mrs. Alta Thomas will talk on "We Gain Through Our Affections." In the special interest class, Oscar Bjer-regaard Bjer-regaard will give the lesson. All officers and teachers are urged to be present at the special meeting at 7 o'clock. . Women's Council At Novel Program The second number of the Va riety Series sponsored by the Women's Wo-men's Council of Trovo, Saturday afternoon, at the club house, proved prov-ed one of the most interesting and entertaining events of the week. As the guests assembled, beautiful beauti-ful string music was played by Mrs. Lucille Quist and Mada Stewart. Stew-art. Mrs. Robert Reid, council president, welcomed the group and introduced Miss Irma Acord and Claude Snow as the artists of the afternoon. Miss Acord in a lovely red velvet vel-vet gown thrilled the audience with her presentation of a novel. Mr. Snow gave a brief review of the author's life and the novel setting, set-ting, After "which Miss Acord read the seventh episode, written in verse form and Mr. Snow concluded con-cluded the entertainment with the reading of the last episode.' Much time and effort were shown by the entertainers in the manner in which they presented their re spective parts. Hostesses for the afternoon were members of the Literary and Discussion Dis-cussion Sections ' of the Council, with Mrs. Thomas Stubbs and Mrs. Joel T. Brown, chairmen of their respective sections. Mrs. Ralph Craven was general chairman. The clubhouse was beautifully decorated for the occasion with u profusion of ferns, palms and gold and yellow chrysanthemums. , . Daughter Honored On Birthday Complimentary to Miss Charlotte Char-lotte Henroid on the occasion of her nineteenth birthday, her mother,-Mrs. D. J. Henroid entertained a group of young people at their home on Sunday evening.
