Robert Roy Wimmer was convicted Thursday of manslaughter for the death of Amber Rhoades, the daughter of Wimmmer's girlfriend, last February. He could face a prison term of one to 15 years when sentenced Dec. 20. Prosecutor Neil Gunnarson argued for conviction on the orgini-a- l second-degre- e murder charge. "This baby was taken and shaken and shaken and shaken... because the defendant was angry," Gunnarson said.' But the jury found Wimmer . guilty of the lesser crime of manslaughter. Sexual abuse charges originally filed in the case were dismissed earlier for lack of evidence. Witnesses called in the closed door hearing were associates of Mark Hofmann, a dealer of rare Mormon documents who police have called the prime suspect in the Oct. 15 bombing assassinations.
