Show Board Delays Final Okeh of Plans for Kuw School At Spanish Fork; Springville Petition Is Tabled The Nebo SPANISH FORK School District, Board of Educa tion met in a special session during the week to discuss plans and specifications for the new grade school which is, to be built in Spanish Fork, and consider other problems. Approval of the plans has not, been made yet as there are some changes the board desires the architect, Eric J. Provo, to make.- Clerk Ben L. Isaac said i,t was possible the plans would be, approved at; the next meeting of the board, This building ir to occupy the site Sand-stroriu- - - recently acquired on Center Street Sixth' and Seventh 'East. between At a previous meeting of the board a petition presented , by a delegation ftf Springville taxpayers and 'bearing 1380 signatures was tabled and no action has been taken on Jt since. The petition reads as fallows: ''We, the under-- . signed cltltens of Nebo School District, respectfully petition the Board of Education of' this dis: trict to hold a bond election, the purpose "of this election being to obtain sufficient funds to carry on a district wide building and remodeling program to care for dir pressing needs. These, needs to be determined by an impartial and survey made by qualified group from outside the district, or by citizens from all parts of Nebo School' District, and the bonds to be paid off with funds derived from the present 10 mill lew for building purposes and without increasing taxes." The board has previously lndi cated that results of a district sponsored survey show the needs Of the district can be taken care of without bonding the district by using funds presently available for building purposes and future an ticipated funds in a continuing program of building on the basic of anticipated needs, according to school board officials. School is scheduled to open on Sept. 14 and by that date a large program of renovating,, cleaning, repairing and remodeling will lie finished or nearly so, in all the schools of the district.
