Although the cost of Montana's campaign during 1923 to combat the grasshopper menace was $125,000, the saving of grain crops within the tsate due to this campaign was ibout $15,000,000. The campaign was waged by the United States Bureau of Entomology and the results were gleaned from a report prepared by Stewart Lockwood, the entomologist, who directed the war on the pests.
