To accomplish this purpose every course must in reality be a course in citizenship; that is, each individual student must acquire in each course not only a knowledge of the subject taught, but also thosa interests, ideals, habits, and powers which will enable him to find his place in life and to use that place to render maximum service both to himself and ' . . The faculty of the high school is making a detailed study of one of the best contributions to educational thought, "Democracy's High School," by Lewis, which brought forth public recognition from Theodore Roosevelt to the extent of calling the author for a private interview to know more of his views on the problem confronting the educators of the youth of America. The critical study will be followed by discussion, also by the adoption of any progressive suggestions evolving from this concentrated study. Already the patrons have had the report cards at the completion of the first term, a new adoption by with a scale for measuring the students in a more detailed and comprehensive manner than has been used heretofore. Goal The Life Extension Institute of New York has found that only three people out of every hundred are in normal health, and out of this number that only seven out of every hundred who have such impair ments are aware of the fact Are you one of those in normal health? Remember these figures are given out by the great scientific body in this line in the world today. An organization that operates without profit, whose only reward is the benefit to mankind in its success in promoting better health. ; The human body in normal condition is a perfect working machine, if each part maintains its proper relation with every other part and is supplied with normal nerve impulses, the result of its activities cannot be other than health. But if there is a mechanical interference with the transmission of power between the brain and the various organs of the body there is disease in the parts so effected. The object of Chiropractic is to keep the nerves in proper working order. In other words to keep the lines clear and free from interference. The Spinal Cord being the trunk line of the nervous system is therefore the foundation on which the Chiropractor works. If you have reason for believing that you are one of those who are not in normal health, call in and see Dr. Henderson or Dr. Spurrier whose offices are over FairerBrosstore; eitherwill be glad to explain Chiropractic to you and furnish you with convincing proof of its merits. Before HI d, -; j pi Taylor Paper Company Another picture for your notice, kind patrons: At noon any day, from 12:45 to 1:15 p. m., in passing through the halls you would wonder where our students were. If you were to pass on into the gymnasium you would find a real live recreational period in progress, being conducted by the city recreational director, Mr. Delbert Webb; basketball, volley ball, folk dancing, etc., going on in different parts of the room. We feel that directed activity but not suppression is the only method for the activity-loade- d citizens of our high school commonwealth. is IIICH 2 , The faculty at its last meeting unanimously adopted the following recpmmendation which came from the student body council: Resolved, that the Provo high school have a real parent's day, some time during Education week, which occurs December 4 to 8. According to the present plans school will be dismissed at 2 :45 p. m. At that hour an entertainment will be presented for the parents in dancing and other activities appropriate for the occasion; refreshments being served also. Plans are being perfected by the committee to bring every parent to the school on that day. Every student of the high school is registered for a class the first period in the morning, this class being designated as the "home room" of the students assembled at that period. On the teacher of the class is placed some of the responsibility of the welfare of the individual student. He can exercise a wonderful influence in this capicity advising, directing, and encouraging wherever he can. Tne lack of religious and ethical training and its ""7 influence is making a noticeable difference in our schools. In order to make the "home room" organization fulfill all that is desired for it, it was decided that the first five minutes of each new day be spent in a devotional or ethical manner. The definite purpose of which is to create for the day the atmosphere which is favorable to the fostering and developnig of our aims and ideals. -- a "' Reduction to freight ratea on all commodttlea aow '( moYing nnder daast rates from San FfuclsccTto potataJa-wfBter-n Utah aadWeTada, aa"well as locally within Nevada, ranging aa high aa 50 per cent and averaging about 25 per cent, will become effective November 25 on Southern Pacific intrastae shipments, It, was announced by that d The WftV t A q maM'. t . j The Ohio man who has eaten through his mouth, hut tho w.. tn kinds of mushrooms should try a woman's is through her ears. : i ;j Chicago hotels as to serve mince Do your .Christmas mailing early Pie with brandy this so you can get an answer.
