Ball A capacity crown enjoyed the Edgemont Gold and Green ball in the ward recreation hall Wednesday Wednes-day evening, under the general upervision of Mrs. Arvil Davis and Grant Elliott, M. I. A. activity activ-ity officers. The hall was beautifully decorated dec-orated with gold and green and the stage was especially attractive attrac-tive for the queen's coronation, which took place at 10 p. m. Miss Laura Meldrum, in a formal form-al gold and green gown, entrain, made a lovely queen, with Wal-deen Wal-deen Ivers. Theora Sundauist, Dora Jean Meldrum and Rhea Sundquist as attendants; Clara Joy Johnson and Lois Richards were the tiny flower girls and Master Reed Penrod, crown bearer, bear-er, with Floyd Brereton bestowing bestow-ing the lovely floral crown. A delightful floor show followed follow-ed immediately, under the direction direc-tion of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Conrad Con-rad and Alice Elliott. Mrs. Afton Penrod and Miss Maxine Pinegar were the accompanists accom-panists for the special dance numbers with the following persons per-sons taking part: Merleen Smith, Douglas Hawkins, . Birthday Party Given By Glub Following a work meeting at the Red Cross surgical dressings room in the Armory, Wednesday evening, Sewaco club members entertained at the home of Mrs. Ardith Nielsen, in celebration of her birthday anniversary, which occurs Saturday. A delicious supper was served, and the honor guest was presented with a beautiful gift. Those present were: Mrs. Fay Thomas, Mrs. Bertha Nielsen, Mrs. Ardith Nielsen, Mrs. Law ana Wright, Miss Mabel Olsen, Miss Irene Westphal, Mrs. Lucille Booke, Mrs. Hope Peay and Mrs. Marjorie Hinckley. Nelson, nee Edna Myers a bride of January 31, in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, Mrs. Glen Pratt entertained en-tertained Thursday evening at the home of her mother, Mrs. George Myers. Contest games were played and program numbers included vocal solos by Mrs. Lucille Booke and Miss Elaine Bott, accompanied by Miss Margaret Wilson, who also favored with piano selections. A pink and white scheme was carried out in the tasty luncheon served to 30 guests. Beautiful gifts were presented to the honor guest. D. U. P. Meeting At Croft Home Camp 4-6, Daughters of Utah Pioneers met at the home of Mrs. Mary Croft. Mrs. Margaret Duke, captain, presided and Mrs. Ellen Conder conducted. Mrs. Edith Y. Booth gave an interesting lesson, which concerned the first Danish emigrant company to come to Utah. Claudia Lewis read the history of her grandmother, Mary Tyndall Baxter. Piano solos were rendered render-ed by Mrs. Grace Croft. It was reported at the meeting that the camp supported the 4 th War Loan Drive one hundred per cent. Assisting hostesses were: Mrs. Zetta Smith, Mrs. Hazel Dix, and Mrs. Claudia Lewis. Mrs. Paul Larsen Entertains Club Mrs. Paul Larsen was hostess to members of her bridge club and a number of guests Tuesday evening at her home. The card game followed a tasty lunch, and high score prize went to Mrs. J. A. Pressler, with second sec-ond favor going to Mrs. Frank Fister. Guests includede Mrs. Fred Mc Closka, Mrs. J. A. Beehive Girls At St. Patrick's Party The Sixth ward Guardian Beehive Bee-hive class held a St. Patricks' party at the home of Areta Mitch ell Thursday evening. Anna Duncan was general chair man, Mrs. Marie Hood and Miss Laureen Waterlyn are the leaders Payson Couple Wed 50 Years .is- "TV Provo Girl Is Wed on Coast One of the loveliest weddings of the season took place Febru ary 27, at high noon at the Park Blvd. Methodist church at San Diego, Calif., when Miss Florence M. Fountain of Provo, and Rich ard H. Reiber of San Diego, ex changed vows. The Rev. Harry Sheppard offi ciated, Preceding the ceremony, Miss Margaret McLeod of San Diego, sang appropriate numbers. A huge basket of calla lilies adorned the pulpit. The attractive bride came down the aisle of the church on the-arm of her father. She was attired In a gown of embroidered white satin, sat-in, en train, with floor-length veil ,of net, attached to a tiara of white flowers. She carried orchids and white carnations. Her only adornment was a chain with locket of the Marine Insignia, a gift from the groom. PAYSON Mr. and Mrs. Rod-, ney J. Merrell of Payson celebrated their Golden' Wedding anniversary at tneir home this week with a family dinner. The table was cen tered with a white and gold wedding wed-ding cake and decorated with yellow yel-low roses. Their children present were Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Merrell and daughter daugh-ter Carolyn of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Captain A. L. Merrell with the Army Engineer corps In Long Beach and wife, and Lieut. Russell Merrell stationed with the Signal Corps In England were the only members of the family unable to be presents Mr. MerJrell was bom October 26, 1870, lit; Paradise, Utah, a son of Silas Jerome, and Lydia Remington Rem-ington Merrell. He moved to Uintah basin when a small child and spent bin early life there. Minnie V. Searle Merrell was born Dec. 18, 1872, a daughter of John Courtland ' and Jerusha Hill Searle. Her father was one of the three original settlers of Payson. At the age of 16 she went to Uintah baiin where she met her future husband. They were married mar-ried at Vernal, March 7, 1894, and a year following in the Salt Lake temple. They moved to Payson In 1904.
