John son, whose marriage took place today in the Salt Lake temple. The bride is the former Alice Bown, daughter of Mrs. Emma N. Bown, and a niece or tne Clarks. A reception, in honor of the newlyweds, is being held this evening at the lovely gardens at the home of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heber C. Johnson. Bridge-Luncheon Fetes Bride - Elect A bridge-luncheon and personal shower at the home of Mrs, Stanley Heal Wednesday after noon, honored Miss Edna Fae Firmage of Salt Lake City, whose marriage is to take place in Sep- tember. A picnic supper, and an unusual un-usual musical program which featured fea-tured Carl Martineau and Elmo Curtis, delighted a group Tuesday evening at Canyon Glen. GE Dramatic Program Is Well Received By Council Group In her natural charming man ner, Miss Lucile Tuttle, well known dramatic reader, captivated her appreciative audience at the Women's clubhouse Thursday evening. eve-ning. Miss Tuttle was presented by the discussion section of the Wo men's Council, as the first of a series of . entertainments to be sponsored by the various council sections, for the benefit of their defense project. The program of seven readings varied from the humorous to the sublime, and rounded out an event of artistry and fun. Adding to the delightful evening eve-ning were the beautiful vocal so los furnished by Max Mendenhall, accompanied by Mrs. Zenith John son at the Ipiano. Welcome remarks were made by the council president. Mrs. Ralph Craven, and Miss Tuttle was presented pre-sented by Mrs.'L. N. Oakley, chair man of the discussion section. . Sojourners Club At Steak Fry A gay outing of late summer. was the steak fry held by members mem-bers of the Sojourners club and their, husbands at Canyon Glen, Thursday evening. Horse-shoe 'pitching was en joyed during the early evening and after supper, the couples spent the time in dancing. Mr. and Mrs. James Verecken of Salt Lake City, former mem bers, were guests, and Art Davis of Denver, Colo., was present, also. Donald and Doyle Hull, ten and eight years old, respectively, sons of James E.
