'the Utah County Packing torn-paiy torn-paiy purchased the grand champion cham-pion fat steer for Meservy Market of Provo. The steer, owned by Wayne Wilberg of Huntington brought $20.25 per hundredweight. "Many Provo firms were among the successful bidders. Sutton's cafe managed by R. A. Moore-field Moore-field purchased the reserve champion cham-pion lamb owned by Andrew Caras of Spanish Fork tor 35 cents per pound. Other successful bidders from Provo included: Hayward Market, Mar-ket, prime hog; Duke's Markei, prime hog; Provo Livestock Commission Com-mission company, choice hog; Sanitary Market, choice hog and fat Ilamb; Safeway Stores .of Provo, choice sheep and hog, and fat lambs. Mexican Program Slated Thursday Celebration of the Sinco de Mayo, Mexican annual festival, will be observed at a program and dancing: social Thursday at 8 p. m. in the Fourth ward, under the auspices of the Spanish club at the Brigham Young university, according to Clifford Hatch, a club official. 1 An address by the Mexican consul con-sul from Salt Lake City will high light the program to be carried out in true Mexican style. Services Held For Josephine Thomas The high V respect and esteem felt for Mrs. Josephine Snow Thomas was expressed in her funeral fun-eral service Monday afternoon in the Edgemont chapel with Bishop Bish-op Sharp C. Gillespie in charge. Mrs. Bertha Yeates was at the organ for the processional and recessional music- Members of the Sharon stake Relief Society chorus chor-us sang "I Know That My Redeemer Re-deemer Lives," with Mm Lillie Sumsion as soloist. Mrs. Melba Pyne was at the organ and the group was led by Mrs. Jennie Farley. Far-ley. Peter C. Lars en. offered the opening prayer. Elmo Brereton, a neighbor of the Thomas family fam-ily and member of the ward bishopric bish-opric was the first speaker. A tribute, written by Mrs- Elizabeth li. Ferguson, a lifelong friend and associate of Mrs. Thomas, was read by. Historian Eva Gillespie, Gil-lespie, for the Edgemont Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers. JULIA- BUTT DIES IN PROVO Mres. Julia Nielson Butt, 79, widow of Willard Butt, old-time sheriff of San uan county in southeastern Utah .died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Clarence Ellertson of Frovo, of causes incident to age. , Mrs. Butt was born in Parowan April 13, 1862- She lived an eventful event-ful life, being instrumental in the success of her husband in maintaining law and order in the southeastern badlands which formed a rendezvous for many an outlaw. 1 She was an active member mem-ber of the L. D. S- church. She had lived with the Ellertsons the past decade. Mr. Butt died in 1919. . Surviving children are Mrs. Ellertson El-lertson of Provo, Harold Butt of Blanding, and Uriah Butt of Bluff; also 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and the fol lowing: brothers and sisters, Free man A. and Uriah A. Nielson of J Mrs. Caroline Redd of Blanding, and Mrs. Luclnda Hyde cf Salt Lake City.
