Show A md kalway suit CHICAGO aug 4 there was filed in tho united states circuit court yesterday afternoon a suit that may in various ways affect many railroads it is a bill in equity filed by the chicago milwaukee and st paul railway company against the pullman palace car company for an accounting under the con tract made in 1882 by which the st paul road secured from thirty to forty five palace dining and bleeding bleeping Ble cars the road charges that the pullman company under the contract for maintaining the cars made charges that were grossly excessive and fraudulent an accounting is sought and an injunction the pullman company from prosecuting an action at law against the road for no v pending in court the railroad company agreed to pay such proportion of alie general expenses of the cars compared as the number of the cars upon the line bore to the whole number of cars run by the pullman company but the bill the charges according to this agreement were 2221 on each car month if was the pro rata charge the amount retained by ahe pullman company from all the corn panics t had contracts with have been per annum lie enormous amounts paid to and conductors according to the pullman bill ahr railroad company asserts there was nevar any detailed statement niada of the wages paid these employees the cost of manufacturing the cars is yow into and bills for thea cost of the cars in question it is asserted are greatly in excels of the actual cost E walker counsel for the road said this evening this suit will never be bottled out of court and we intend to see if we cannot brine aliis company to it proper of the rights of conr company it has fairly and squarely in the matter of and we inland that it be compelled to account fur everything the state lira lature has bent committee after committee to investigate the pullman company but each time the old report of being absolutely perfect and liht is made it is about time the people and railroads of the country knew how laffaira in the pullman company are being managed we propose to find out |
