Membersand their gucBts welcome to all Tuesday Eugene Middleton has made himself a Good Neighbor by coming forward to help the paper in its Peace movement, the first person to pay in money after the announcement war made. Gene has literally obeyed the injunction, Sell what thou hast and give it to the poor and follow me. He was born to the purple and fine linen and could any day go back to a palatial home and luxury. But having seen the light, he prefers to go out "away from the world and live the economic principles in which he believes, the United Order. And it makes him a better man by 100 per cent than if he was busy in panning and blasting for gold up and down Main street. He has long since put himself at peace with the world by establishing peace in his own heart. If you judge him by fine clothes, and money and property, politicaljor social standing, you wouldn't render a very good judgment, but judging him by manhood, character, principle and honor, he s' amis high. Hes alone now, but shortly millions will, out of necessity, be following his example. He is one of the forerunners of man's and God's plan must warn and convert hia neighbor, and neighbors uniting as one must proceed to convert warring and quarreling groups until whole nations are converted. Make your own heart a workshop, a laboratory of Peace, your great enterprise, your contribution to the Cause! Why not invest in Peace? We ask our readers to join us in this cause. All members will be known as Good Neighbors. All it takes to become a member is a subscription to the paper, or any contribution you feel able to make. The first thousand persons to come forward will become known as Charter Members and their names will be placed on a perpetual Honor Roll. Now, readers, do your part and you will shortly see what a marvelous, work can be done. SOME OF THE FOUNDATIONS FOR PEACE In a fight for Peace, herd are some of the foundations that must be laid: Religion, good and inspiring as it is, and Friday as individuals settle theirs. People must get BANK by undefiled religion. In the name of all American soldiers dead, especially the 200,000 killed, wounded, gassed, e, shocked and made sick in the battle of the shell- we call citizens to Peace and ask them to invest in it and Meuse-Argonn- fight for it Not Peace at any price; not spineless pacifism, but a righteous and reasonable Peace. ALL WILL BE LOST IF WE DO NOT SECURE PEACE The time has come when the majority must be led to develop sufficient good will to stand for Peace. Every effort hitherto made by man to establish Peace has failed utterly. Every plan has been futile. Why? Because mens hearts have not been prepared for Peace. The common people have always yearned for and desired Peace but always their leaders have failed them. As a bedrock truth we say at the outset that there never has been Peace under the worlds Babylonian system of commercialism, and there never can be Peace under it, because it contains all the seeds of war. Such is the situation in the world that without Peace there can no longer be free and happy life for men and nations. There cannot be individual and collective opportunity. There cannot be absolute security. There cannot be liberty and freedom. There cannot be law and order. The conflicts set in motion are sure to destroy the nations engaging therein unless people immediately acquire sense and wisdom sufficient to establish Peace. Whatever there is of civilization may soon be wiped out and a Dark Age ushered in which will destroy all the finer things of life. It will pay all people to invest in Peace. TO THE HONEST SOULS WHO BELIEVE IN PEACE To those who truly believe in Peace we say: It is youi duty to God and man to do whatever in your power lies to forward the cause of Peace. If you do not do this you will be untrue to yourself, untrue to the faith you profess, untrue to your children and your childrens children, and unfaithful to all the purposes for which you were created. Let Peace begin right where you stand in your own heart; then proceed to warn and win your neighbor. Come into this plan and together let us work for the greatest cause ever committed to man. Why not invest in Peace? TIIE STAGGERING COST LAST TIME MULTIPLY THIS BY TEN FOR NEXT TIME The war of 1914-1- 8 involved 81 belligerent nations. The deaths caused directly by it were 13,055,000. The indirect deaths caused by it in individual lives wiped out were 28 000,000, making a total loss of life of 42,000,000! The money losses were $ 225,000, 000, 000! None but God can compute the spiritual losses and the moral losses. Shall a few ruthless leaders be permitted to plunge the world into another struggle that will take ten times the toll that wu taken by the World War? God forbid!
