Show School Board Office to Provide Answers on Bond Vote Issue The following questions have been nsked concerning the proposed pro-posed bonding of Alpine School District by patrons of the schools. The answers are given through the office of Dr. Alma P. Burton, Bur-ton, District Superintendent. If you have questions concerning concern-ing this bonding issue, please direct them to the Alpine School District Office at American Fork and an attempt will be made to answer them for you. Question: Ilmv much will a "yes" vote increase my properly tax? Answer: If this bond proposal passes, it will not change your present tax rate. State law limits lim-its the amount that can be levied lev-ied for capital outlay pui-poses (buildings, remodeling, etc.) by a school district; Alpine is already al-ready at the maximum. This proposal pro-posal will continue the present rate for about two years, but it cannot increase your taxes. Question: Where and when will the voting take place? Answer: The voting will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1959 in five different places in the district. Voting of riea.sant Grove, Manila, and Lindon will vote at the Pleasant Grove City Hall. Quest inn: Why do we need u bond election at the present time? Answer: The junior-senior high schools in Pleasant Grove, American Amer-ican Fork, and Lehi have been working under the severe handicaps handi-caps of not enough space and poor student age grouping for several years. Orem Elementary students are so crowded that additional ad-ditional space must be provider! for them. The Board of Education Educa-tion must provide the best education edu-cation possible for all children in the distinct. The Board needs this money to help adequat ly house the students. Question: Lehi Is growing at H slower rate than the other cities In the district, did this town really need a new high school ? Answer: At the present time Lehi Junior-Senior High School students are using every bit of space in the building. In addition, addi-tion, they are using the basement of the Lehi Stake Tabernacle, and old three room barracks, and a fifty-year old private home that is located on the school property. They have no waiting room, no student council roam, or no counseling rooms. Yes, Lehi needs a new high school. |
