Show Pleasant Grove Locals I Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hansen have been spending ten days in Califor-! nia and Mexico. Mrs. James Peterson is still very ! ill at her home. j Sandy Walker, 19 year old son of, Mr. and Mrs. J. Sanford Walker, underwent an operation for the removal re-moval of his appendix Wednesday morning. I i Mr. and Mrs. Stanley B. Keetch, j Mrs. J. D. Wadley and Reif Wadley, were Salt Lake visitors Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Cragun of Salt Lake spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Rumel Cragun. Mr. and Mrs. Ford Cheney of Park City, returned Monday to their home after a pleasant visit . with Mrs. Cheney's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Kirk. A Pleasant watch party New Year's Eve was enjoyed by a few relatiives at the home of Mrs. Milton Mil-ton Jacobs. Mrs. Lavina Fugal, v Jean Fugal and Everett West were Salt Lake visitors Monday. A group of Boy Scouts from the Provo Fifth ward spent New Year's night at the Utah Power Company cabin up Battle Creek canyon. Mrs. Hannah Wennerstrom has been very ill at her home the past week following a stroke suffered last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Merrill entertained enter-tained a few guests after the dancing danc-ing party at the Utahna New Year's Eve. The late Carl Anderson family met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Christiansen New Year's Eve to partake of a typical Swedish dinner prepared by the wives of the family. Only the grown members were present. Miss Fern Robinson of American Fork spent Sunday "with her 'aunt, Mrs. W. W. Lim. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shoells enter- Mr. and Mrs. George Gourley and babe of Holliday were holiday visitors visi-tors with the Gourley and Swenson families. Mr. and Mrs. Clesson Buhler and little daughter, Beverly Jean, of Peoche, Nevada, have been visiting the past week with their parents. Monday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Boren were: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boren and Mr. and Mrs. Will Boren of Charleston, and Mr. and Mrs. Clesson Buhler of Peoche, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Hilton motored motor-ed to Logan Sunday to take their ( sons, Sam Jr. and Abel, and Roy Ellis back to school at the U. S. A. C. ' Miss Helen Carlson returned to Salt Lake Thursday after spending from Sunday until that day with her parents and family. Melba and Bertie Mart Grange have been visiting during the holidays holi-days with relatives at Price. The Mothers Club met Thursday at the home of Mrs. Kate Jacobs. Mrs. Edythe W. Anderson reviewed the book, "The Citidal'; by A. J. Cronin. Tuesday morning January '4th a baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Eves of Manila. The Third ward members are giving a dancing party on Wednesday, Wednes-day, January 12th, in the ward amusement hall. Mary Fugal, daughter - of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Fugal, is ill with scarlet fever. Word has been received by relatives rela-tives in Pleasant Grove that Alvin Carlson is ill with a complication of ailments at the L. D. S. hospital. Mrs. Lula Backus entertained at a quilting Friday. Those present were, Olive Christensen, Mary and Bebe Adams, Daisy Draper and My-ra My-ra Adams, all of Orem. Miss Sedley Jones of Provo, formerly form-erly of the Windsor ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Jones, and Victor Olmstead of Salt Lake, were married at Salt Lake last week. Mrs. Sarah E. Hooley served dinner din-ner to Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Wright of American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Reed Gillman, Lindon; Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Ash, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Varney and Mrs. Harriet Varney, Vineyard, and Mrs. H. E. Presstwich of Provo, Friday in honor her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar M. Cragun entertained en-tertained at a turkey dinner Monday Mon-day for Mr. and Mrs. Ray McKenzie and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Racker, Jr., of Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Racker, Sr., and daughter Rose Marie of Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Thome, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Matthews and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Adamson returned Tuesday evening from a trip to California which lasted a week. "They report a most delightful trip. Friday evening the Lindon Co-operative Cannery employees held a luncheon and dancing party at the Lindon Hall Monday evening. Each couple had the priviledge of invit-' invit-' Ing another couple and a very en-joyahle en-joyahle evening is reported. A group of friends met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Verland Johnson on New Year's Eve and enjoyed en-joyed a very pleasant watch party. Bishop and Mrs. Frank D. Atwood, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clarence Hilton and Mrs. Lorena Nielsen attended a very enjoyable social time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Burch of American Fork. The Gillman family met Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Gillman for a family fami-ly party. On New Year's Eve a group of friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ray-mond Nelson and enjoyed the evening eve-ning with games, social chat and refreshments, staying until the wee hours to welcome the New Year. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Irving Bullock, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Boren. Mr. and Mrs. Will Green and Mr. and Mrs. Arnel Green. Saturday was Mrs. Nelson's birthday birth-day anniversary and relatives who were served dinner at her home were: Mr. and Mrs. A. I. Peterson and son, Stanley, of West Jordan; Mr. and Mrs. Nevan Crabb and son, Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ashton, Mrs Mary Jones and Miss Edna Jones of Lehi, and Miss Glennis Lee Master of Provo. j tamed at a very pleasant party Saturday 'evening. Monopoly was the main game of the evening and delicious refreshments were served to the six young married couples present. Larsen of Salt Lake, and Dr. 'and Mrs. G. O. Jensen oT Provo. Miss Jean Carlson of Salt Lake spent New Year's and part of the week with her cousin, Virginia Jacobs. Mr. and Mrs. Ray "Merrill and children returned home Thursday evening after spending the "week "with relatives at Brigham City. Miss Donna Kimball entertained at a watch party New Year's Eve at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Josephine Bezzant. Games and refreshments re-freshments were enjoyed by about 30 guests, who attended. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Carlson and daughter, Jean, of Salt Lake City, spent from Thursday until Sunday with relatives in Pleasant Grove and American Fork. They, with other relatives from Pleasant Grove attended a birthday party In honor of Mrs. Hazel Shelley of Tmerican Fork, Saturday. Bishop and Mrs. Stanley B. Harris entertained at dinner New Year's day for Mrs. J. D. Wadley and son, Reif, and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Mick-elson Mick-elson of Draper. Miss Thora Hales returned Sunday Sun-day to her school duties in Cleveland, Cleve-land, Emery county, after spending the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Mary B. Hales. After the regular preliminary exercises ex-ercises at the Windsor Mutual Tuesday Tues-day evening an assembly program "The Wedding of Santa Claus" was presented. Each person brought a "white elephant" as a gift from The program lor Sunday evening for the Third ward will be a High Priests convention, with good musical musi-cal numbers being -arranged. At the sacrament meeting iin the Second ward Sunday evening, Elder Deaa Atwood will be .the speaker. Some scout advancements will be taken -care of and musical numbers given. All Auxiliary organizations resumed resum-ed their regular -work after the ten day holiday rest. Mr. Murdock of the C C C in charge of education, gave a very fine talk at the M. I. A. conjoint meeting at the Third ward Sunday evening. home, and drew for presents after the little play was presented. Much fun was had from the comical gifts received, after which pop corn and candy were served. Ten young friends of Robert Pearson, son of Dr. and Mrs. E. A. Pearson, surprised him on Tuesday evening. The occasion was Robert's tenth birthday. Following the playing play-ing of games and lunch the group was taken to the show by Robert, I |
